Debarkation day in Miami

We had a 6pm flight out of Miami and went straight to the airport. Ended up sitting in the lobby of the airport for 4 hours with a whole bunch of other cruise passengers before we were allowed to check our bags and go through security. It was a pretty miserable wait.

We were too wiped out to want to go tour around Miami (and had already done that since we got there a couple days before the cruise). Plus there wasn't anywhere to leave luggage. I wouldn't suggest a 6pm flight unless there's no other option.

I will sometimes get a day rate at a hotel on the beach or near sights. Rate usually is from 9a to 6p. Works well with disembarking and flights. Try dayuse.com or use a large brand website like Hilton and put in same date for check-in and check-out and day rates will pop-up.  If you have a favorite hotel you can call and ask for a day rate.

Resortpass.com will connect you with hotels/resorts offering day passes to the spa/pool/beach facilities.  Tip them to store your bags while you are pampered, swim, relax and grab lunch.
