Wait list for cruise

Has anyone been put on a wait list for a cruise?

 

we tried to book a very last minute cruise for the 18th today.  I was told no balcony cabins were currently available, but we could go on to a waitlist with a $500 deposit.

 

Please tell me your experience with a waitlist booking.

But seriously, you are wise to ask if anyone else has had the experience. We haven't but would not without knowing it is a regularly done thing. Carnival reps often don't give good information. I would be afraid they would refund in future cruise credit. They are not big on giving back cash these days.

Bad idea. When and how will that $500 be refunded for one thing?

I wouldn't do it. You'll likely be chasing that $500 for awhile and the chances you'll actually get a cabin at this late date if none are currently available seems remote.  Is a different cruise a possibility?

I have never heard of Carnival having waitlists for cruises.  Was this a Carnival rep or a travel agent who offered to put you on a waitlist?

Sorry....I would refuse to put a deposit on a waitlist scenario.

Odds are slim to none of getting a room next week I would think.  It's Spring Break for many people.  And even if the cabin was free, no way would I cruise during SB again.  Did it once - NEVER gain.
