Thanks, so you are saying the cartons do not fall apart when refilled several times?

I haven't paid attention, but I don't know why you think they would fall apart.  I generally fill my Hydra-flask with ice water once or twice a day and I'm good to go.

Our cruise a couple of weeks ago had the in-person muster plus the mandatory video in the stateroom. And honestly? I would have no idea what to do after watching/attending either one. The closest I have come to knowing what to do was when you had to meet where your particular life boat was. Al least I knew where too go then!

And that is EXACTLY what you need to know👍🏻 😉

You need to know where your muster station is because in case of emergency you have to go there immediately. More instructions will be given once you arrive at your muster station.

Another thing is to wear the life jacket properly...if you are not so sure about that, just try it on one time in your stateroom...takes about 2 minutes to make yourself familiar with it but would make you feel much safer.

(Thinking of the Costa Concordia incident that was shown on the news many years ago all that counts is to be able to make it to your muster station quickly...the rest is praying)

Your muster station and your lifeboat location are probably not the same thing.

Two weeks ago on Breakaway, our muster station was in the Manhattan dining room.

You report to your Muster station (location noted on your room card & behind your cabin door)  when the emergency alarms are rung- & will be escorted to your lifeboat station when & if required.  On smaller ships your muster station may be the same as the lifeboat station- we were grateful ours was when we sailed the GOS in 2013 and we had a fire on the aft of the boat - we never had to abandon ship but it was nice to see the lifeboat right in front of me.

On my first cruise I never actually spotted where the life jacket was stored in my cabin until I was packing which would have been far more useful info than anything in the Munster drill.  Turned out it was under the bed in the storage basket the steward used for the throw pillows.

Now that you mention it, I never actually saw my life jackets on the Encore. I saw the basket under the bed when I was looking for my luggage, but I thought it was just sheets for the bed. So the only thing the in person drill taught us was how to get to The Local.

well, this explains why I had to watch the safety video during checkin today.

We had live muster in Feb and had to watch the safety video for each person at check-in as well.

We refilled our cartons several times during the cruise.  We would actually refill them in the evening in our cabin, and then put them in the fridge to be cold for when we needed them. I was not sure enough of the seal to take it with me when I went off of the ship.  I simply filled my  thermal cup with ice and water in the morning before leaving.
