Well, what a clusterfork this all was today.

If you remember this below....it says no one can return to the ship until everyone has cleared customs....We're on deck 8, so we were done in maybe 30 mins (w/lines and all)

That was about 5pm

Did some shopping (More on that in a minute), checked in with others on the FB at 7:30, and they were only to deck 4!!

Somehow they did the rest faster and we were able to re-board at about 8:30 or so.

Now, Honolulu closes at 8pm. Stores and many (most) restaurants in the area close at 8pm, so many folks didn't get to do squat today.

We were hungry and couldn't get back on, so found a super cool dive bar....I mean, any place that has a Mach 5 on the shelf can't be too bad. Place called "The Nighthawk" about 1/4 from the ship.

Deep fried pork belly with tots....was good. Host dude was super cool. Few others from the ship discovered the place as well to wait it out for re-boarding

This is an interesting statement. Unless things have drastically changed post COVID Honolulu USED to be a place where everything stayed open late. In fact you used to be able to shop until midnight on a Sunday. There were always constant mobs of tourists in the shops and restaurants.  I'm very surprised to hear that everything closed up at 8pm?That's never how it used to be.

Oh yeah....there is some small little teeny tiny "bar" that has a racing theme, I have no idea what it is or was for, but it too is unused.

The little “racing theme” bar is part of the smoking section. The only indoor bar where smoking is allowed.

Covid screwed a lot of things up.  Here in Maryland, we used to have tons of places open after 9 on weeknights.  Now, we're relegated to Fridays and Silver Diner that opens after 10.  Weekends are a "little" better but not much.  Kind of sucks because our options are limited after 9 and we tend to eat late 😞

Ala Moana Center closes at 8 and many (almost all) of the restaurants within.

At the port, there is one restaurant, "Old Spaghetti Factory"....it closes at like 9, I think?

And there's nothing else. It's dark and slow near the port. Nothing is open after 8. Yes, could have gone here and there.....had we known, had we had time to discover, might have gone a different way. But down by the port, what looks like a downtown area, everything closed at 8 or earlier.

The flag, the dogs, and the cool dude all tell me your host fled the lake effect snow of the Windy City solely to shelter you in comfort in your hour of need.

Didn't "fall." Went overboard, but a fall is an accident and what he did was a choice.

Saw the news about Harry Belefonte, sad....RIP

Bring this up because at least once a day we see "Day-O" from Beetlejuice on the ship's music channel

"Daylight come man, me wanna go home"

Some lyricists are pure genius!  Others, well...

Day-o, day-o
Daylight come and we want go home
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
Daylight come and we want go home
Work all night on a drink of rum
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Stack banana 'til the morning come
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister tally man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister tally man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Lift six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
A beautiful bunch of ripe banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Hide the deadly black tarantula
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Lift six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister tally man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)

Realized this morning, Carnival is missing out on another revenue opportunity, phone re-charge battery rentals, like Fuel Rod.

They're dispensers of portable batteries, fully charged w/cable and all, so keep your phone charged or to recharge.

Carnival should put out a few of these on port days because people always have power issues with their phones....

These are common in many airports and casinos in Las Vegas
