Changing stateroom category on NextCruise booking and OBC

Recommended Posts

I booked an interior cabin via Next cruise last month for a sailing in September on Oasis.  The original booking was an interior so it came with $50 OBC.   I changed it last night to a balcony.    Is the OBC supposed to change from $50 to $100?  I made the call last night right before closing.  The phone was disconnected before I got the new invoice and by the time I got the new invoice still showing $50, I could not call back as they were already closed.  Just wondering if I should bother calling back and waiting on hold forever again. TIA!

@Ourusualbeachwould know but I suspect it doesnt change once you are back home. Admit idk.

Just did my first next cruise since covid so it's new to me. I got $75 for a solo refundable rate on a balcony.

I recently upgraded a casino comp that resulted in the OBC being increased.  I’m not sure if that was b/c it was a casino booking or not.

Mine is a casino booking too 🙂

On the phone with them now.  They are saying because the offer I used was for an interior, I would not get the additional onboard credit even if I paid for an upgrade (which I did).  That makes 0% sense as we have booked Balconies before on interior offers through next cruise where the upgrade was $0 and we got the $100.  If they had said no because it is more than 30 days since you booked, etc I would have no issue, but this excuse is kind of lame.

Also, when I was on the phone with them yesterday, I paid off the upgrade I did with a FCC. There was still $56 left of the FCC after we were done and I was asked if I wanted to have the balance reissued as a FCC credit or did I want to use it as OBC on this sailing.  I said OBC.  It is also not showing on the invoice but I assumed it was because it might have to go through another dept. Just now I asked when I will see that credit so I can make some purchases in the cruise planner and this new rep told me that it is impossible to get OBC from a FCC balance...

Yes, the OBC should be adjusted if you change categories or length of cruise.

Call back.  It should change.  I have had people booked for a year and made a change...some went up and some went down.

So after being on hold for awhile the rep came back and said that the remaining FCC would indeed be converted to OBC on the sailing and it was now a new policy that this will happen automatically anytime you do not use all your FCC on a booking and will be posted within 72 hours...

Thank you!  I called back today.  After being on hold for 30 minutes twice waiting for an agent and then being disconnected immediately when one connected, call # 3 was successful.  They said I definitely should have gotten the increased OBC and that they would submit the request and I should see it within 24-48 hours.  They said I would know when it happened as I would get a new invoice and the OBC will show in the cruise planner.  Within 2 hours I had received the new invoice showing the $156 ($100 from next cruise and $56 from the FCC) and I confirmed it was on the cruise planner.

Thanks to all!

All's well that ends well!  Have a great time.  Sorry that I won't be there this time.  😄
