Royals Bank of America Visa question

Recommended Posts

Just make sure to play a little on the slot machines

They don't want you to use it as an ATM. That is what they told me when I only played a small amount very quickly.

I didn't realize the time and we were going to be late for a show.

I also transferred lots of points to my OBC, but I thought Id have to play thru the money I select from OBC to play in slots, before I can cash it out?  Can anyone clarify? thx!

You don't have to play through the money, you can cash out at any time.

I do this all the time.  I want to play Black Jack and not slots.  I'll go to a slot machine, charge $500 to my onboard account, immediately cash it out and then find a seat at a table.  The advantage to doing this is no premium is charge for cash and because I have my RC branded BOA visa on account, I receive double BOA points because the charge shows up as a Royal Caribbean purchase.

How would you then convert this to cash? Only at the casino?

the $600 in points = Visa Refundable OBC ...this is what you are getting.  EdandMary are suggesting you can also go to Guest services and cash out this $600 if you wish and now you can do what you want with the $$...play in the casino, etc.

But I know its not your question originally, but there are credit cards that provide a lot better rewards then the Royal Visa card.  I believe that the reward is basically equal to 1% of your purchases and 2% on Royal charges.

Citi cash card is 2% (1% for purchases and 1% on payments)...admittedly this is even a somewhat lousy reward card, but certainly better then the Royal Visa.  Just food for thought.

I see. And I'm glad you're mentioning there are better cards out there. I like to point out the Wells Fargo Autograph card which has a 3% reward rate on travel, among other categories, and still has no AF and no FTF just like the RC BOA card. Even better cards out there if you factor in cards with annual fees.
