ReturnCruiser Posted July 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2023 We’re looking at a veranda cabin that backs up to the elevators on an Odyssey class ship (e.g., 815, 717, or 621). We were wondering if noise from the elevator shaft/doors could be heard from within the cabin. Our alternative is a penthouse cabin with a connecting door in a location that is not near the elevators/stairs/exterior doors/public spaces. Which would be better? This would be our first Seabourn cruise and I’m admit to being noise sensitive. I realize that noise from a connecting door cabin is dependent on the folks in the cabin. Thanks. Rare FlyingScotSailors Posted July 24, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2023 We have stayed in 521 on the Odyssey, and had no noise from the elevators.
SLSD Posted July 24, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2023 We were on Sojourn on deck six next to an elevator and heard absolutely nothing. We enjoyed the proximity. In fact, this was one of our favorite veranda suites ever--even better than deck eight more costly suites.
tv24 Posted July 25, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2023 No noise from across the corridor from the elevators. But that is not the same as next door.
Rothko1 Posted July 25, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 25, 2023 I also think that being on a smaller ship, fewer passengers, and not a "spring break" atmosphere, you won't really hear much at all.
johng75370 Posted July 26, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Likewise, have shared a wall with the elevators and had zero issue with it. As @SLSD said, the proximity was very convenient.
notjaded Posted July 31, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2023 Had a PH suite 915 on Odyssey. No noise at all from elevator.
ReturnCruiser Posted July 31, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted July 31, 2023 Thank you all for the above responses. Looks like we’ll keep our cabin that backs up to the elevators.
