LIVE! First Time Royal Cruiser In Wonder-land Oct 1-8th Let’s Cruise!

Recommended Posts

Sigh; ignore those 2 video-looking things in post above; when you incorrectly select video instead of photo because of bad eyesight, that happens sometimes even if you delete the video (and you have to wait till the movie uploads to do it).

Also an FYI for anyone who wants to live blog or post on Cruise Critic from a ship; for some reason, Safari barely works for me on my iPad and iPhone, but Chrome is a breeze.

Internet today has been great!

Internet is especially good in cabins on Wonder b/c every cabin has it's own WAP (in the closet or somewhere). On other ships, that's where it often has issues b/c the nearest signal my be broadcasting from who knows where and has to pass through your door/walls.

@OCSC Mike Ah! That makes sense.  It’s been OK in restaurants as well.

I’ve been busy!

Worked on a video for a little while in my room and in the solarium

Then country line dance class.. It was PACKED.  I think I’ve found my tribe.  After the class, the instructor took us out near the giant Cowboy Hat where the VERY GOOD country trip was playing.  We did our dance there.  Then I stayed there and sang along with all the songs at the top of my lungs. There were two other ladies ALSo singing at the top of their lungs, and when I asked them where they were from, they were from my town (Knoxville!). Should have known 😂

Finally got around to getting my. Soda Cup from Boleros (they were out at Sorrentros) and tried another bartender for a blueberry no-jito, and FINALLY a non-sweet drink!  Going to find that bartender again. While waiting for cup and drink met a lovely couple on their first anniversary trip AND first cruise. THey. recognized me from YouTube and we sat around and talked cruising which was fun.

Now changing for dinner!  It’s formal night.

Following along and really enjoying your review and pictures!  We're on the Wonder 10/15 for the first time and this is getting me extra excited to be onboard.  Can you post the show schedule for your sailing please.  Looking forward to see your St. Thomas and St. Maarten days.

If you choose the current sailing in the app you should be able to see the entire schedule of everything just as if you were onboard.

WHAT was the producer and director thinking??

The concept of VOICES is that the entire show would be acapella—a sort of Pentatonix thing writ large.  I LOVE me some acapella Pentatonix!  IF Royal had produced a group of beat-boxers off to the side live-singing the “instruments” parts, this show would have been spectacular!

But they didn’t do that. Instead, they decided to pre-record a bunch of people singing and beat-boxing, and you got an endless supply of GIANT peoples faces up on the screen, completely distracting you from the performers on stage.  Think 1984 (the book) and Big Brother. Think infamous Apple commercial from 1984.  Throw in lots of crazy virtue-signaling odd images like the giant image of a very old Indain man and a homeless man and quotes from Gandhi and Mother Teresa, and you have the hot mess that is VOICES.

YES!!  We felt the exact same way.  Such a waste of what could have been a great show...

Snagged a lounger right by the windows on the ocean (people were leaving due to boat motion).  I’m enjoying the boat motion…I really love it, but I feel sorry for those who are finding it difficult. You really feel it in the Solarium!!

A little tip I learned by accident... I get really queasy on a rocking ship, but I don't have any issues if I'm floating in the hot tub.

The Filet Mignonette was perfect—proper medium rare, properly warm and melt in your mouth!

sides of Yukon hold mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms.

sauces of peppercorn—didn’t like it—and wine reduction.  Also meh.  Sauces really not required!

bread was warm too—Parmasean Bread excellent and Pretzel Bread ( too salty!)

There was a bride and wedding party here.  I don’t usually post photos of random strangers but I feel like I was a guest at her reception!

@TravelBluebird....when I was scuba diving if we got seasick on the boat our instructor advised us to jump in the water, IMMEDIATE relief....hence a pool or hot tub on a ship would work just as well.

It’s really smart; I never thought of that!  I’ll remember to tell my son who has no sea legs this if we get into rough seas on his cruise next year!

After Chops, decided that I’d change my boots with heels to flats in order to go to Silent Party in the Solarium.

Good decision. This boat is MOVING tonight!

Very long line to get headphones, but it went fast.

Wish they could air condition the Solarium at night; it is such a big venue would be GREAT for deck parties and silent party, but it was HOT in there, and unlike doing a party on deck where you get breezes, there are none in the Solarium,

I danced maybe 7 or 8 songs before it was too much.

Went downstairs to the ice show, and it was cancelled. No surprise there; the person at the door said 2 performers were injured earlier today when they did try to have the early show. I hope the injuries were minor, and I can’t believe they even tried one tonight.  My reservation is now good for the last night at 7, so Ill have to be packed up before dinner. Good thing my Hibachi reservation is at an odd time for me, 5pm.

I’ve given up the ghost for the night—just was too hot to go back to Silent Party

Speaking of Silent Parties (for those that don’t know; everyone wears a headphone and there are 2 or more tracks playing and so its silent if you’re watching and kind of a hoot to see everyone jamming to a different beat.   REALLY good Silent Parties have 3 channels and live DJ battles (on Celebrity Equinox; best Silent Party EVER!  . Tomorrow is St Thomas and I’m really hoping for good weather.  This one had 2 channels only and didn’t even see where the DJs were, but it was very well attended.

Did 13,500 steps today; if I felt like going out more or casino I could have got my 15,000, but hey, I’m on vacation!

Just got woken up by a 4am in-room announcement.

Medical emergency. They need someone with a donor card and an O Negative blood type. I unfortunately have neither.

We are at a dead stop; I’m suspecting a medical evacuation.

I hope the person is OK.

Now I’m wide awake. I went from completely asleep to completely awake.
