So here’s a question for those in the know when it comes to being docked in NYC. Most of the ship bars are closed while in NYC until we leave at 11 pm. We noticed a few that will be open, but there is not many. I wonder how that will work when order a glass of wine or other spirits during lunch and/or dinner?

Sorry for the blurry picture. I didn’t have my glasses on. But his was the view from our balcony as we were just arriving. 😂

Wel’re done. I fell on Wednesday and broke 2 bones in my ankle. In hospital waiting for swelling to go down. No weight  baring 4-6 weeks. Surgery next week

We download movies to our devices at home, before leaving for the cruise.  You can never count on the internet onboard to be able to download movies, it usually takes for EVER!

That is my plan, but I have a show that is releasing the next season while I'm at sea. I would like to watch some of it on my last sea day.

That totally sticks! We hope your surgery goes well and you’re back on your feet as soon as you are able.

One thing we like about cruising on Princess ships is they have a router out on the balcony. As far as quality, we’ve had no issues with download speeds in our cabin this whole trip.

We just got back from our excursion and I have 243 photos to edit through, which might take a while. 😂

So I thought I’d post a picture of the view we have to deal with from our balcony where we’re currently sitting, docked at the Brooklyn terminal located in the bottom right hand corner of the photo.

We both are looking forward to our excursion tomorrow as neither of us have been to the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island before.

We had a great time on our excursion today, first visiting the Statue of Liberty and then Ellis Island. Then on the way back to the Brooklyn terminal, we also drove by the World Trade Center.

It took about 15 minutes to get The Battery where we would board the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.

IMG_4563.thumb.jpeg.2b25c8ba8ec61d9cc4c4e1dd6e6194ab.jpeg

As you might imagine, we ran into a little traffic along the way.

Once we made it to the Battery, it was a short walk to the entrance. Along the way we saw the pigeon patrol overhead keeping an eye on the traffic! 😂

Once we made it through security, it wasn’t too long we were boarding the ferry and heading across the channel.

While there on tge island, we went to a 20 minute introductory movie, which was quite interesting. Afterwards we checked out the original Statue’s torch, then walked around the outside.

You should be fine. But to improve your download chances, think about downloading any movies when most folks are off the ship enjoying the day in port. For example, right now it’s 6:40 pm and all aboard is at 10:30 pm tonight here in NYC, and this is the download speed I’m currently encountering on our balcony.

Too bad you missed Manhattenednge -where the sunset lines up perfectly with the street grid.  It's very cool.

I also love your photo of the trees in full fall colors and the skyline in the background. After reading your report on this trip I think we may be booking a similar trip next October.

Thanks! We definitely have had an enjoyable cruise, to include the 5 day land portion before the cruise and highly recommend both. 😁

Day 15 - Oct 28 - Sea Day (1 of 3)

Here’s an interesting event scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Remember our discussion a few pages back regarding the Elite Wine Tasting event? It looks like it might be open to everyone on the ship, as there is no reference to “Elite Only” on the Patters for tomorrow at 2-2:45 pm. Maybe there is an Elite Only wine tasting event at some other date/time?

It looks like it’s going to be a pretty sea day tomorrow, as I’m guessing we might be somewhere around Virginia Beach by tomorrow afternoon.

I

I might be wrong, but I don't think it's limited to Elites, they just get it for free.  Others pay, I think it used to be around 9.00

Just curious, but why would I want to pay $9 for 4 very small glasses of different wines if I have a drink package? If nothing else, I’ll have to go by there tomorrow afternoon on one of my ”scavenger hunts” just to find out the details. 😁

You wouldn't.  Maybe that's why only Elites go. 😁

Seriously, the event predates the Plus/Premium packages, so most people didn't have them (drink packages by themselves require a lot more drinking than I do to be worth it).
