Did Casino Chip purchase disappear for anyone else?

We usually purchase casino chips in advance for our cruises. It's part of our highly disciplined and frugal approach to losing money.

A few weeks ago, I bought half of our massive stake. On Tuesday, the super friendly and awesome world class website would let me add chips to my cart, but then tell me that my cart was empty. On Wednesday, the chip purchase option was gone completely. (It used to live in the onboard credit section of the best-in-class website.)

I know it's not because I hit some sort of limit because chips are missing from our March sailing and we haven't purchased any for that voyage.

Today none of my booked cruises (November 2023 thru April 2025) show casino chips available for purchase.

However, there is a new category called Extras that doesn't have anything entered yet. Maybe that's where the Casino Chips will be located for purchase.

I noticed that new category. I just figured that if you Had It All, what could possibly be Extra? 😁

Apparently, the option to buy casino chips pre sailing is now gone. They removed it on the 10th of October.

I hope that the casino realizes the risk of having me buy OBC and using it for play. There is a decent chance that I'll buy some random merchandise instead of losing the money in the casino.

But we all know that random purchase will not be a tote bag - your spiffy CO bags would not allow that to enter your house. And it surely could not be left in the car, thus keeping its existence unknown from said CO totes, to potentially slide under the seat where it would live out its life like a 🍄

With the room cards in the mailbox and many times cabin doors still open for priority boarders I am sure casino chips have disappeared from staterooms. I would guess that is the reason that the chips are no longer offered for pre-purchase.
They need to make it so casino money for chips and/or slots can be preloaded on your cabin card.

When you pre-purchase casino chips, they are not delivered to your stateroom. You have to go to the casino to get them.

They used to be left in your room.

I'm not sure when that was. Going back more than a decade, we've always had to to sign for the chips at the casino cashier's cage.

We purchased chips for our cruise leaving in a week but after around 10/10/2023, they disappeared from the HAL site and you could no longer purchase them. You can still buy OBC and use that for play.
