  • B. Henderson changed the title to NCL Escape Sept. 2024 excursion advice!

probably need to know the ports you are visiting prior to giving any excursion advice.

that being said, however, my best advice is prior to reaching any port, review the excursion descriptions, decide which ones you'd like to do, then when  you get off the ship, find a cab, show him what you want, negotiate a price and go and enjoy. sometimes we show a driver 2 excursions, and he'll take us to both. the overall price is substantially less that what you'd pay for the ncl excursion.

We will be taking the Mediterranean cruise this fall and welcome any input on shore excursions.

We are open to taking both NCL sponsored and independent shore trips.

Welcome to Cruise Critic!

Without more specifics (like what ports you will be visiting, approximate date of travel (there are some excursions that I would not recommend in the peak heat of summer)), people could give you recommendations on random ports which you won't be going to.

Go to the italyytours.eu website and browse their tours in Italy. We used them in Naples, Rome and Florence and had a great time at all three. In Ibiza we took the city boat from the ship to town and caught a taxi up to the fort and walked back down. There are so many things to see and do in Barcelona pick some things you would enjoy.

If you haven't checked out the company Rome in Limo you should. They do excursions in some of those ports and they have an excursion share site that you can use. I used them in Rome and did the Rome highlights tour. We paid around $100/person with only 8 of us and the ship excursion for the same was like $450/person. Many ports are easy to do on your own as well with a bit of research. Check out Rick Steves, he has a free travel app and his books are great.

Have fun. We will be on the Escape in June doing a similar cruise. Plan on spending a few days in Barcelona. It is an awesome city.
