We had 7:00 pm dinner reservations. Waited about five minutes to be seated. Service was slow though. I’m chalking that up to first night issues. We’ll see how things go as the cruise progresses.

We both ordered the garlic prawns to start. I enjoyed these very much. Mark didn’t like the olives, but I ate everything together and it was delicious.

Mark opted for the French Onion Soup. He said it was good, but not great. He orders it All. The. Time. So I guess he should know.

I can’t get past that soggy bread.

I tried to order the Greek salad, but when I asked if they had Greek dressing, our waiter said I could have ranch or balsamic.

I got a Caesar.

For the main course, Mark tried the Pot Roast. He was disappointed at first, but once he started eating it, he said it was much better than he thought it would be.

I ordered the pork tenderloin. It was great. Needed lime instead of lemon, but I found out later that limes have not yet been distributed throughout the ship.

The homemade (ship made?) chimichurri was yummy.

Mark opted for Bananas Foster.

I tried the Princess Love Boat Dream and it was not at all like I remembered. Not bad, but not the rich chocolate-y goodness I was expecting.

We walked through the casino and the system was down. None of the slot machines were working. It was full of people, but weirdly quiet. Hopefully things are up and running tomorrow.

Instead, we decided to check out karaoke.

Not many people signed up so we listened to the same three people multiple times. Maybe people will get braver further along in the cruise.

Thank you for this great review, I'm loving it.
We almost booked the Ruby for a partial transit, but then decided we needed a relaxing holiday instead and just booked a 10 day eastern. Ruby was the first Princess ship we sailed on in 2009 and we were sold. A lot has changed since then. It was changing even before the shutdown especially in the food offerings.
I'd be interested to hear your comparisons to the other brands you have sailed, especially Celebrity.

First stop this morning was at the International Café for a double latte. Might go back later. The cups are small and I am a coffee drinker.

Sat in the chairs just outside of Explorers Lounge on deck 7 and enjoyed our rich, creamy cups of caffeinated goodness. Then decided a quick bite would hit the spot.

Stopped by the buffet around 8:30 am and it was already very crowded. Not unexpected. Got a chocolate chip muffin and a yogurt parfait.

The muffin was quite good, but the yogurt was very soupy and runny. Seemed like it wasn’t quite cold enough.

Mark said the banana walnut bread was good too. We will try to make it to the dining room for breakfast at some point, but we are not big breakfast eaters normally, so we will play that by ear.

Showed up around 8.55 am for breakfast at the dining room and was quickly seated on a private table

quick service but poached eggs had been cold - might grab my tea to go at the IC next time- and the avocado wasn’t listed on the menu but no issue getting it

Good morning! I wonder what Alternative Dining Demonstration is? Looks like a jam packed fun sea day for you. 👍

We watched Top Gun Maverick on the Sky Princess late at night. It was awesome!

they are showcasing what’s on the menu at the pay restaurants

Any eggs benedict?  It's usually my fallback position.

wasn’t on the menu and I personally don’t like the sauce, which is why I went with the bagel, smoked salmon, avocado and poached eggs on the side as DIY version 😂

That could work as an alternative.  Hollandaise sauce is always hit or miss on cruises.  Thanks.

Yes which is why I tend to stay away from it

also the internet connection is fast - no issues posting pics or streaming videos!

We are also aboard this cruise and so far, I’m really enjoying the vegan menu.
Last night was French potato salad with dijon, eggless tomato pasta (not sure who Norma is), and a curried cabbage that didn’t look that attractive but was outstanding!

Spent an hour and a half (+/-) in the casino this morning. We didn’t come out ahead, but after 90 minutes we are only $40 behind, so we’ll try our luck again later.

We are very casual casino players, so don’t usually win big. But we’ve “earned” about 20 cruises across the various lines, so we will be interested to see how the Princess player’s club compares with casino offers.
