I never noticed the magic carpet being heavily trafficked or noisy. Kinda wondered what the point of it is. I imagine a Celebrity board room where some creative type has a cool idea to have an elevator-bar that goes up and down the side of the ship, serving drinks and picking up and dropping off people with a killer view of the ocean, up and down, up and down all day. nnnn-tssss nnnn-tssss nnnn-tssss. A BAR, but also an ELEVATOR. Can't ever have too many of either, right? It probably got greenlit originally this way by the execs. Then the lawyers got involved. And then maybe also the suits that regulate bars and alcohol. One by one they took away each little cool aspect of it piece by piece until we're left with a hugely expensive, over-engineered orange monstrosity that hangs out over the ocean but doesn't really do much for anyone other than need to be cleared out whenever you happen to want to hang out there so it can go from exactly one upper floor (14) to exactly one lower floor (5) and vice versa. I tried to order a martini there and they didn't even have martini glasses. And I am NOT paying for a martini in any other geometric shape than a triangle. It's just not the same. Not when you have bartenders in the Grand Plaza that do fancy flippy tricks when they make martinis....

Anyway. I don't have any insider knowledge. I don't want to start any rumors about the Magic Carpet. That's just what occured to me as I investigated this thing trying to figure the whole thing out. It's cute, but kind of pointless. No, its not going to be noisy. Like, ever.

there's a bar on Royal C  Oasis ,( maybe Rising Tide,?)   Folks wait in line... sit at tables, order drinks ... go up and  then go down..  quite useless but folks line up.

The  Magic Carpet Bar is nice in the mornings for Mimosas and great views..weather permitting.   No crowds!

Top 10 highlights from me:

10.  The free charm necklace from Effy

9. Chateaubriand

8. Plunge pools and champagne glass hot tubs

7. Jorge at the Oceanside Cafe

6. Raspberry cheesecake at the bistro

5. The service/staff

4. the buffet in general

3. the croissants in the buffet

2. The theater show "Awaken"

1. The jogging track

I'll expound in my full review which I will post soon. Will also add top negatives. Overall, this was the best cruise of my life. Too many awesome things to name them all.

I was so excited about the Effy charm necklace last month on the Reflection-I had seen people post about them previously. I was diligent about going at the right time and retrieving my charm everyday. After about day 8, they started repeating charms so I wasn’t able to complete it. It’s still cute. Hope you are able to complete it!

Evening in the Retreat lounge..

Thank you for these! If you have a second, I'd love to see a shot of the drinks cooler in the lounge. Do they have coffee there, and if so is it drip coffee or one of those espresso machines? Thanks.

Wow! Ascent is lovely. I arrived at 11:15 and was onboard at 11:30. S1 10123 is a fantastic location right behind the forward elevators right up to the retreat decks. Met my retreat host Ivan and the head butler Miljan. Asked to make sure I was signed up for Go Green ( which I did pre cruise online). I need those points to get to Elite after this trip. I'm not actually having my cabin serviced although Miljan said Ivan could wear a mask and come do it if I wanted. I got a short sleeve light hot weather robe and a kettle to heat up the water for my eye mask in the morning. Luminae is putting my meals with covers to go and I'm bringing up to the retreat deck bar area on my tray. Had to eat in the more covered part tonight after the rain went through this afternoon and wet down all the uncovered chairs at the tables. I had the halibut with potatoes for lunch (didn't like the veggie sides) and the poached lobster and red snapper for dinner. Then went back down and brought up dessert. The chocolate palet was so good! And I'm chocolated out as Cafe al Bacio had my favorite chocolate tartlets today and I ate three... and have 2 in the fridge for later as they might not show up again this cruise. Laura in the Retreat Lounge kindly rustled up a bottle of late harvest wine for me from Luminae to keep in the lounge. $19 a glass so only $2 extra pay for me. Says there's a Canadian ice wine shot size for $48 which I plan to try tomorrow. Will get that in Luminae.

I visited Blu about 4:30 and was told no issues eating there during the cruise. I stopped there first just past 5:30 and they put me in the far back corner. I tried the appetizer macadamia nut-crusted sea scallop (which was better on paper) and the creamy crab bisque, taking a few bites and putting my mask back on while I ate. No one was near me at that early time.

Yes, I like seafood!

I wandered the whole ship several times. The rooftop garden area is pretty. I was unimpressed with the horribly uncomfortable chairs along the back of Eden and the hanging swinging chairs with the backs right against the walls so you can't actually swing.

Thought The Cosmopolitan was the prettiest of the 4 main dining rooms.

The shower combo unit in the suite bathtub is wonderful. I made the water super hot. Can have come from the big overhead shower or out the two horitzontal jets or out the shower wand or out the spout into the tub.

Had a lovely meal in Fine Cut steakhouse this evening. We found the wine list to be limited in Cabernets by the glass. We opted for Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass. It’s $35 a glass but only $18 if you have the premium package. We were charged for 6 generous pours which amounted to $118 including gratuity. A bottle yields about 4 glasses and costs $195 plus gratuity. It’s a better value to go by the glass.

we each had the crab cake, salad and 9 oz filet. Plus fudge brownie for dessert. I’m full!

We are on a slow boat to the Bahamas. In fact, I think I could row faster. But the water against the night sky is beautiful.

Visited the casino for a nightcap. A lady was playing my Zeus orb machine and winning quite nicely. She didn’t see the humor when I told her she was playing my machine.

DH and I agree that the vibe on this 3 nighter is quite different from the previous 4 nights. Guess we’ll just have to sit on our balcony and enjoy a bottle of embarkation bubbly.

Until tomorrow..

Sorry you hit your head on this way-too-low pendant.

It looks as if the pillow covers must still be in transit ?!?

Along with the barstools.

I'm not crazy about the design statement being made (or Not) in the lounge.

Just reread your post and laughed out loud!  You are right on the money!

Here's the point.  Princess used to have 3 ships, the Grand, the Golden and the Star.  Their bar in the back (Skywalkers) was raised up, making the ship look like a giant shopping cart.  When we we on the Edge, DH noted the Magic Carpet and said "great - the Princess shopping cart ships are finally getting a shopping bag to put in them".

(If you want to see a picture - google Diamond Princess. Grand had the handle removed for structural reasons, and the name Star is being reused - the Diamond is now with P&O, but AFAIK, the shopping cart handle is still there.

Did you just hijack her review? Or did this thread just become a review-a-thon? 🤣🤣
