Paying for PLUS on second day

Good morning, all:
We're going on a ten-day cruise and plan to buy our Plus package onboard.  If we buy it the second day will we have a nine-day charge instead of ten?

I haven't seen that particular question answered.

No and I don't even know if you can buy it the second day. Bud definately no discount.

On my past few cruises in the last few months, Princess has signs encouraging passengers to buy a ‘Plus’ or ‘Premier’ package and on day2 remind passengers it is the last day to be able to buy or upgrade Plus to Premier. 
 

Why would a passenger buy on day2 if Princess is going to charge them for day1 ? I am almost certain if you buy on day2, you do not pay for day1, but do not have first hand knowledge as the one time I did buy on board, I did it on day1.

Or, at least if a guest did wait until Day 2 and paid in full, they would reverse any beverage charges and Crew Appreciation and MedallionNet from Day 1.

I’ve heard from others that it is prorated and that’s why they wait.  And yes, you can currently buy it on day one or two.  

That all can change .. this is how it is currently charged, though.
