Perhaps a few hours at night but 24 hours a day for eight days? No. M I can only tell you what the Captain told us. Was it a constant 23 knots? Probably not, but it was a constant high speed, aided by the fact the seas stayed relatively moderate.
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 3 #102 Share Posted February 3 What I do remember about the 2020 World Cruise is: When we turned around. The fact that it was a guest we knew since 2007. Speaking with her husband the night we turned around. Going to Cabo where she was transferred to land. Going as fast as we could. And I believe getting back on schedule. What I wish I could forget is getting off the ship in Sydney. Arriving home to a nightmare. Food in the store. Almost nothing and we had nothing in the refrigerator other than the freezers. And the nightmare began. What I also remember is feeling very safe on the ship as event unfolded. I do remember about a year of all the discussion about when it would be safe to sail. Would we very get back to some sense of normalization? Would a vaccine be developed? Would it work? Not bad considering I don't remember what I ate for dinner last night. 🙃 Keith

ctjon Posted March 23 #105 Share Posted March 23 Looking at the Marine Traffic web site - seems as if there are a lot of ships going through the red sea to /from Cairo. I'm fairly sure none are passenger ships but there is a lot of traffic with no reported incidents or violence that I've heard about. I wouldn't go through as a passenger at the moment but looks as if ship might be OK doing that trip.
Rare travelberlin Posted March 23 #106 Share Posted March 23 MS Artania (Phoenix Reisen) will go through Red Sea with passengers. Those passengers who do not wish to continue onboard in this route have the option to Fly from Salala to Cairo and to wait there for the ship.
