I need to cancel my cruise

Recommended Posts

Final payment is due tomorrow and I can't get hold of my Norwegian cruise consultant. I sent her an email yesterday but she hasn't replied yet. My question is if I just don't make final payment will it automatically cancel and reimburse my deposit?

As a rule I would imagine that not making final payment will cancel your cruise, but not return your deposit.

However, these things depend a lot on where you booked. Your profile suggests that you may have booked in Europe, which means that the majority of experiences that people on here have had may not apply.

For example, are deposits refundable for you regardless? They certainly aren’t for us in the UK and I thought that EU terms

were similar.

Phone any Norwegian number to cancel the cruise (whichever office is awake).  Don't rely on email. Don't expect the cruise to auto-cancel, there's often a few days grace, so you have to take action.

The call centre person may say you have to go through the PCC, but if it's urgent you should insist they do it (and send you an email confirmation).

The PCC may be on holiday, or have left the company.  We tried a PCC for a while but the slow response (especially for repricing) is why we fired her.

As Keith says, you may have booked the cruise in a region where deposits are not refunded.

Thanks guys, I'll try to get hold of her again this afternoon when they open.  Although I live in Spain this booking was done through Casinos At Sea in the US so US terms apply

Can you contact Casino at Seas?  They own the booking.

If not, I would call the general NCL number and quit trying the PCC.  If you can't reach them, and something goes sideways, you'll be stuck with forfeiting your deposit, regardless of the reason you couldn't reach someone.

remember, "he who hesitates is lost" run, dont walk. call ncl as soon as possible, and keep trying until a real live human talks to you and you get confirmation of the cancelation.

sorry you have to cancel. anytime i need to cancel a cruise, it's depressing for me, as i always look forward to it ( the cruise, not the cancellation)

I don't know anything about Casinos at Sea, but I do know if you book through a TA they "own" that booking. In that case you have to go through the TA for any changes and not NCL directly.

Is CAS the same as booking through a TA?

you will absolutely have to call CAS.  Regular call center reps will not be able to touch the reservation.  CAS is open until 7PM Eastern.  The hold time may be really long, but you just have to wait

You might even find they went ahead and charged the card on file, of course this will only happen when you want to cancel.  If you miss the final they will cancel, keep the deposit and have you rebook at a higher price!
