Yukonbear Posted March 22 #1 Share Posted March 22 We have not booked anything and wondering if there are things we can get at the port. We looked at a tour on Viator but it is a 6 hr tour and we would leave at 9am so it’s not possible.

Could you give more details please? just wondering about shore excursions that would be available for purchase at the port. We are used to the Caribbean where there are always tour companies offering “island” tours or something like that. Or there is a beach close buy or shops to visit. Any suggestions would be appreciated

There won't be folks hawking tours.

It is a commercial/industrial area that really has nothing to offer visitors. Your best bet is to rent a car and make your own tour
jollyjones Posted March 23 #6 Share Posted March 23 The OP is talking about Kona which is on the Big Island and is a tender port. It's a small town with a few things to see.

Travelexpert35 Posted March 24 #8 Share Posted March 24 There are lots of shops and restaurants in Kona as you get off of the tender. You may just want to walk around that area. Also there is a small beach right by the tender at the King Kamehameha Hotel where you can swim if you like.

I stand by what I said at least-- there will not be folks hawking tours in Kona like you have in the Caribbean.
Rare mskaufman Posted March 27 #10 Share Posted March 27 There is a beach very close to where the tender lets you off.
KeepCalmBearOn Posted March 27 #11 Share Posted March 27 There is a beach right where the tender drops you. You'd walk past it heading to the shops. https://maps.app.goo.gl/UL3DG3XFxbZVSCT18
