Just curious if anyone has any hotels right near the Port of San Juan that are affordable and offer transportation to the cruise terminal. Any suggestions?

TIA! 😁

We stayed at the Condado Plaza, which was pricey.  We could see the docks, but it was not walkable due to the roadways.  Taxi was not much at all to get to the pier.

We were a little disappointed with the Condado Plaza, as it is advertised as a deluxe experience, but our room was not.  The room had a desk with one small chair, and other than the bed no place to sit.  It had a sort of open space for I would imagine a small sofa and coffee table, but this room was bare.

Will you be embarking at San Juan Cruise Port Terminal Pan-American Pier? We stayed at Aloft San Juan, by the convention center, which is close to the terminal, but not walkable due to lack of sidewalks. We took an Uber XL to the cruise terminal. Other nearby hotels are the Sheraton Puerto Rico Resort & Casino and Hyatt Place San Juan.

If you're interested, I detailed the embarkation process on my blog of our recent Jewel of the Seas cruise out of San Juan (link).

The Carolina area north of the airport has a much better beach than Condado (protected by outer reef), and is often far less expensive.  More restaurants, Walgreens, grocery.  Cab to port is easy and around $22.  We prefer Embassy but lots of folks like the bigger beach hotels there.

All Royal Caribbean ships that home port in San Juan use the Pan-American Pier.

We have cruised out of San Juan 9 times (including last week) and our experience is you don't need to stay near the port. We have stayed in Old San Juan, the Condado area, the Isla Verde area and the port area. We have not found a hotel anywhere that offers a shuttle to/from the airport or cruise port. Cab fares are regulated so you don't need to worry about getting overcharged by a cab driver. It's a 20-minute ride from the airport to the Pan-American pier. It doesn't matter how you divide that up. In our experience, we prefer to stay in the Isla Verde area near the airport. It's 5 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes to the cruise port. We think the beaches are the best in Isla Verde and quite often, we can find the best price for hotels in that area. I recommend the Royal Sonesta. It can be a little pricey depending on when you book but it is a gorgeous resort. We now arrive 2 days early in San Juan so we can spend a couple days at the Royal Sonesta before our cruise.

I had a feeling this thread was going to get moved from the Royal Caribbean forum to the San Juan, PR forum, so just wanted to clarify.
