Vancouver embarkation

Recommended Posts

What is this?  It's a major metropolis!  Have you not been to NYC, London, Paris?  Are you American? If so, then take 25% off everything Canadian.

Bold and underlined? What does that mean?

People complain about how expensive Ft Lauderdale is...particularly on certain popular weeks. Seattle downtown is pretty expensive. So is Miami. So are most major cities.

I've sailed out of Vancouver, Rome (Civitaveccia), Athens, Barcelona, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami. For myself Vancouver is by far the cheapest. No flights!

I don't know why people are upset about this post. Vancouver is expensive. Even with the currency difference, the lodging is still significantly higher than other major cities like NYC, SFO, or LAX. I can for sure find mid price ranged hotels in NYC during summer for about $200 USD, and similar level of hotels in Vancouver would be $300+ CAD.

I see a figure posted of $200.00 USD as being acceptable but $300.00 CAD as being outrageous. At today's exchange rate $200.00 USD is $275.00 CAD.

I agree Vancouver is expensive, just like any major city.
