Have to venture away from Princess and need some advise

Recommended Posts

We just got off of Enchanted and it was absolutely one of the best cruises we have had.  Details in the the review i posted last week.  So, on to our next cruise and we cant find a princess ship that meets our dates and or cabin requirements the first week of November of this year.  So that leaves Celebrity Summit southern Caribbean going out of Puerto Rico, Penthouse suite, or the NCL Getaway, Haven Penthouse suite, western Caribbean going out of New Orleans.

Any comments on if you couldnt go on princess, you would choose one over the other?  We have been on Both lines, although those are pretty old ships.  We have been on Celebrity Silhouette which is similar to the Summit and really liked the smaller size.  However, we have also been on getaway and loved the Haven.  Anything that may make one a better choice over the other.  Again, we are trying to get as close to the Enchanted experience as we can.  We had a S5 front premium suite on that ship.

thx

We're long time RCI cruisers but we cruised on Celebrity Summit this past March and loved the ship. It's been completely upgraded and beautiful and the OceanView Cafe is one of the best buffets we've seen. I would absolutely sail on Summit again.

No question - Celebrity beats NCL across the board and Southern Caribbean is far superior to dreary western Caribbean.  On Summit you will likely have a late night sailaway from San Juan - which is perhaps best sailaway anywhere.   You should consider spending a day or two, pre- or post-, in San Juan - definitely worth the time.

p.s. Noted you are from Greensboro - I recall many dates ending at the Boar and Castle —- sad that it is gone.

Best sailaway anywhere?  A night sail away from any city can be pretty.  But when it comes to the best sailaways "anywhere"  there are places like Kotor (in the daytime), cruising out of Venice (no longer allowed on big ships), Istanbul, Shanghai, etc. that we think are far more interesting than coming out of San Juan (even at night).

Agreed “anywhere” was too broad a term - but I was addressing someone who appeared to be a committed Caribbean cruiser.

We did summit in March in a royal suite, love the perks with that or penthouse. Huge aft balcony, two bathrooms also hot tub. Free specialty restaurants very nice suite restaurant , two liters of liquor of your choice.
