I stayed in 1202 port side on the Panorama last October and it was great. Loved having the light in the cabin and it was very quiet. Great for coming back on board on port days.

I have 1205 on the Firenze in August, that’s starboard side so I may hear the anchor but I’m early so it won’t matter to me.

I would have no problems booking these cabins.

I've never been on the Horizon, but I've stayed in porthole rooms on many other ships and we love them! Noise has never been a problem for us.

We had adjoining rooms on the Horizon last October, one porthole and one Oceanview.  We have had several Oceanview on other Carnival ships.

Horizon Specific: noise was not an issue, there was not as much light as I remembered on the other ships but they served their purpose. I new day from night and I could look out and see the water.

This room had the portholes in a “tube” or back from the hull. Think looking through a straw or roll of paper towels. I don’t remember this on the other ships.

Other ships, we could hear the anchor drop and loud bangs as the water hit the hill when the ship was at full speed. I believe that the porthole was more flush with the hull and let more light in.

Overall I like the porthole. I would book again, I really like them if I can get them with an adjoining an Oceanview when we need a room for the kids.

Many times... Love the forward portholes

You will heat the anchor if deployed and certainly the thrusters during docking.  Less noise on Deck 2 than Deck One. Trade off is little to no foot traffic, the further forward.

Coming on board at port is wonderful, short walk.

Here is a photo of the Oceanview and Pothole from the Verizon last October.

Just to show the differences in light.

We find them to be a great economic value. Yes, there's thruster noise in the morning on port days and yes there are times when you can hear the wake on the bow of the ship. I must say that I do like the fact that the hallway is usually quite quiet. I've never had kids running the hall that I can recall. It's like living on a dead end street; only 'locals'.

Yep, anchor drop, thruster noises, pretty cool because your on a ship doing what ships do. Embrace your marine neighborhood. Enjoy your new surroundings.

“Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore”

And that's why you've chosen a cruise vacation. If you want Interstate noise, stay at the Days Inn.

Exactly, I want to feel the ship moving, hear the wake, feel and hear the hum of the engines. Otherwise might as well be on land!
