NCLH OBC - how long and what form?

Recommended Posts

I submitted my OBC form.  They approved it.  How long does it take to appear on my pre-cruise account?  And then - what does it look like?

They approved it this past Tuesday [May 14] -

Does it appears as a line item such as "Shareholder OBC:  $100] or in some other format?

It should appear immediately after confirmation and will display as "Onboard Spending Money"

On a desktop computer, when you go into the vacation summary for the particular sailing, it will show:

Reservation At-a-Glance

Reservation #:

Embarkation:

Disembarkation:

Onboard Spending Money: **************

Payment Status: Completed

and also, use it all, or lose what's left.  Last time I had an OBS of 250.00.  I purchased a great pair of binoculars ( I would never spend that amount for a pair of binoculars) plus some other stuff from the gift shop.  Used it all.

If they approved it, it should already be there.

I just had shareholder OBC approved earlier this week. I noticed it on my reservation before they sent me the email.

Ask general reservations for an Amenities Confirmation. It is posted immediately.

Thanks all. Interestingly it appeared as a $50/$50 on each of sides of the reservation.  You would think that it would show as a single $100 credit to me since my wife is not on my IRA account!

Nope. It's split up between the first 2 people in a cabin.

It makes absolutely no difference how it is assigned.

This isn't necessarily true.  If you're traveling with a friend and not a spouse it actually matters if the OBC is split.  I bought the shares and shouldn't have to share the credit.

If a good friend was paying half the cost of my cabin, I will gladly share half of my itchy-and-scratchy bucks with them.  If I don't like them that much, I'm not sailing with them.  In fact, if my name is first on the reservation and we take a Shorex together, I'm going to pay them $25 to offset my discount.

agree with this.  I travel with friends often and we can work it out between us.  But I also recently discovered that if you put a note on the form to only appply the credit to my account and not split it, they will.

I agree with you on the $50 shorex credit.  I’ll happily share that.  The benefit doesn’t cost you anything and I think both should get some benefit from it.  It’s fine if you’re booking it upfront and have to pay in advance.  As the “first” sailor, I just pay for two, divide the cost in half and have my friend pay me.  It’s a little more complicated when you’re booking onboard as the credit will only show on my account.  We just work it out amongst ourselves.  But I look at the OBC differently.  My stock, my credit.  😃

What if your cabin-mate also owns 100 shares of NCLH?

Then I’m ok with splitting it.  But I’ve never been in that situation.  😃

Just a footnote.  On Friday I submitted the form for my October Bermuda cruise.  Again, I’m traveling with a friend.  I forgot to add the note to apply it only to me, so I was anticipating it being split.  Today I got notice it was applied.  They posted it as a $50 purchased OBC certificate just to me. I have no idea why, but either way it works for me.

wow. i didn't know that. So if you don't spend all the money, you don't get it back?

Nope.  It’s non-refundable credit.  Use it or lose it.  It also can’t be used for the casino or for your daily service charges.  But it’s good for just about anything else.  Food, drinks, spa, gift shop, excursions (if booked onboard), etc.

Yes, I gave back about $11 on my last cruise

wife and I took her nephew with us so there were 3 of us in the suite but the shareholder OBC was split between wife and myself, and by mistake we used his card in NYC for a few drinks. If it was wife or me, the taxes would have come off our non-refundable OBC.

I also bought refundable OBC and they gave us each $25, so I didn't realize that I had some leftover until it was almost time to leave.

I not worried about spending a $100 credit - we'll blow through that in normal cruise BS before the first sea day is over - even with FAS+.
