OBSERVATIONS FROM THE POOP DECK SEASCAPE JULY

Interesting.  I did not know that.  I assumed the New York to Paris would  be about the same as Los Angeles to Honolulu but guess I was wrong to assume that.

You are correct that Concord could do LAX-HNL. It was the USA to Australia that I said it couldn't do...

We've also used a past MSC cabin card on both Divina and Seaside. Good to know from @morpheusofthesea that will work on Seascape as well.

Sometimes the junior butler would ask us to not do that so he could know when we were out of the cabin and he could enter to freshen it up. We would often return to the cabin to find the towels folded and used glasses removed multiple times a day, not just twice a day. I would imagine that depends on your particular team and their other responsibilities though.

The reason I was asking is that we like to leave our iPads in the room charging while we are out and about.  I have not seen any outlets to plug in a charger in the lounges.  We like to keep our electronic devices 'topped off' and unplug the iPads when we come back to the room to allow for freedom of movement while we use them.

I guess I'll figure something out if it takes a MSC cabin card.  I would had to loose ours from Divina as we have a collection of every cabin card from every cruise, except maybe the first one or two cruises.

You will have two extras already, since you'll get wrist bands on Seascape. Only time you need the cards vs. the wrist bands is to exit the ship. And maybe in the casino, depending on your goals there.

guests with no etiquette find a place to leave their soiled half eaten dishes

This is so true and one of the reasons we prefer to not leave YC. I don't understand how people can act like this. And if it's around the Jungle Pool, then children are seeing this wonderful example of so-called adult behavior.

We like to get up just before sunrise and do some walking before breakfast on deck 8 outside. Weather and cloud cover have to concur in order to get a majestic sunrise. Rarely can one capture a photo better than the human eye. This photo fails to convey the moment.

Many ask where is the Specialty Restaurant desk. Here it is deck 8. Though as one walks on board embarkation day and every day one will find upsell agents on decks 5,6,7,8 will be ubiquitous. After a couple days 20% discounts will be offered.

On Sea days. Also much is not widely known that on sea days most passengers sleep late and many do not set their clocks back or forward and miss breakfast. So on these sea days the MDR Greenwave restaurants offers a brunch til 1:30. The line to get in is long and can be a wait. A plus for those residing in the Yacht Club that get up late and miss both the YC Restaurant hours and the One Pool breakfast buffet can have their butler escort them to the front of this Greenwave brunch line or they can go by themselves and wait at the end of the line with the rest of steerage.

But where is the raisin rolls? still missing in action? They were gone on my previous Meraviglia cruise but they thought it was just a provisioning issue. The YC chef even tried to make me some from scratch ❤️ But I can't see them in your picture  😞

Real first world problem, but i do love having a couple of them with a cup of tea at TS before breakfast.

Will be onboard Divina next week and crossing my fingers.

Okay.....that's it, no raisin rolls, I'm canceling! 😆

I've been off in "Princess Land" (tell your wife they have great chocolate chip cookies) and have not kept up with "YC Improvements" for a few weeks.  Is the brunch fleet wide?

But is the food good?  We'll only have two sea days and I'd hate to miss lunch in the YC Restaurant if the brunch food is not as good.

Here is a secret. Much of the food for all the restaurants, YC included, comes from the main kitchen. It comes in large trays and is plated and dressed in the respective restaurant.

P.S. perception is reality.

This is for @Fissues.

This is the widening/dredging ship we all thought was already accomplished during the shut down of Ocean Cay in May. The workers will continue to dredge when there are no ships visiting. (This is what the trolley driver said. Listen for yourselves.)

This is quite interesting. Is this just Seascape perhaps or Sea-class ships in general? I know that on the Fantasia-class ships, YC has its own kitchen. The chefs have spoken with me often as I navigate the menu items and they alter preparation of dishes to make them GF for me. If I ever ask revert to the MDR menu to choose a GF item that is not on the YC menus, it will take considerably longer for me to be served and they are always very clear up front to expect the delay. This is also why Le Muse "runs out" of ingredients even though they are available elsewhere on the ship -- YC uses a better quality of ingredients pulled from their specific stock vs. the MDR.

Thanks for the intelligence! I see the Titan pulled in today to do the dredging and we speculate that the Ocean Voyager is for crew housing.
Appreciate your efforts and posting during all your travels. Your the best!!

They have their own kitchen and chef. Another reason a special GF meal is taking longer (has it ever been hot) that it is prepared to your specifics in a special portion of the MDR kitchen devoted to this and must be transported to the YC. Been told that one time the special elevator was not working and the assisstent waiters had to use the stairs to retrieve meals from MDR kitchen.

If I choose a GF meal from the MDR menu, then it must come from there and does take longer. I rarely do this. The few times I have, I don't recall any temperature issues. I don't normally like the MDR items so I usually have them alter a YC menu item to eliminate the gluten. I don't even ask to see the MDR menus unless there is nothing on the YC menu that appeals to me, which is pretty rare given the Everyday choices of filet and salmon. YC items arrive on the same timing as my spouse's same course, even when altered. The YC folks are great at changing the preparations of YC items to accommodate GF needs. Reminds me of the line from the old Burger King jingle, "Special orders don't upset us."

This is for those that have trouble at the port getting passed the traffic guard at the terminal and want to drive right up and unload luggage at the white tent. I have two, one for the dash and the other for DW to hold up rolling down the window and waving in the guards face. Then afterwards hide them under the car mats so one's car isn't vandalized by lowlife.IMG_4056.thumb.jpeg.b9501127b304131b7371f356fcb210a6.jpeg

we're looking to book our first msc out of galveston cruise and I might have to make a copy of this and try it out

It is not as easy as one might think, gathering intelligence. I asked on this ship about the ship at anchor. No one knew, nor cared. A couple said that the smaller boats docked by the worker residences were ferries. Asked the trolley driver about the only ship at anchor, his answer, is the dredger.

There is a building under construction to the right facing the excursion kiosk, and behind the dive shop. Waited in line at the information center 5 minutes (no butler to butt in front of this line) to ask what this building under construction was...he did not know nor cared...waste 5 minutes. Then went to the gift shops and DW bought a few items at each. Asked the cashiers what the building under construction was...shrugged they had no idea ...nor cared to know... DW said why don't I try the managers office (she saw someone come out). I went inside and they were very helpful. It is a Marine Biology Research & Coral Preservation Center. In photo to the left behind blue Dive Center.

Overall the chow on MSC is very good to excellent. But like anywhere there is always an item or two to just say no. That IMHO is the subs in the main dining room. I'm a Bella so the Yacht Club subs could be deelicious!

 Do you mean submarine sandwiches?

I do not recally seeing sub sandwiches on the YC menu on Divina.  I could very well have overlooked them as not a fan of pre-made sandwiches, exception being the egg salad sandwichs as the Family Mart type locations in Japan.
