Carnival Secrets they usually don't tell you about

Will be my first time cruising Carnival (next week!!), but have cruised HAL twice & have always taken food off the ship no problem. For excursions we would order room service & put sandwiches in ziploc bags, then just put them in our backpack that we took onshore.

We also packed a few sandwiches, fruit, chips, and cookies on the last night/morning to take with us for the travel home. Our last cruise we had about 10 hrs to wait at the airport for a flight, so that food came in handy. We had met another couple on the cruise & they too were stuck at the airport with us, and had also brought food out, so we had a smorgasboard! :D

Not true at all. There is a beach towel area most of the time close to the bar at each end of the pool. I've always gotten my towels from there. Also there has been a towel checkout area when leaving the boat. This was on the Norwegina Sky. All you had to do was sign your name and cabin number and take a towel. When you returned to the ship you dropped off your towel at the entrance.

I don't know if this is still true or not, but I hope it is. If you have professional pictures that you'd like to buy from Carnival, only buy the 8x10 for $19.99 (you can't buy a 5x7 for $5 or $6 without buying the 8x10 first). Well, after I returned home from a Carnival cruise in 1995, I went to a local photo store to see about getting the photo copied (knowing full well that they probably couldn't do it). Anyway, the photo shop owner said that he couldn't copy it without first getting a release from Carnival. So I called them up, and they sent it right out. No problem!

Look for the massage chairs! For a dollar you can get a quick body massage (1 min to 1 1/2 min) (like the people that sit at Brookstone and Sharper Image) and its a great pick me up after dinner, before dinner, anytime. We found ours on the Pride by the main atrium/bar/entrance. Once people saw what it was, there was a line for people to try it!

No kidding about that Fun 21! We sailed Conquest, 7/11. My DH is a pretty experienced blackjack player, and one night decided to try the "Fun" 21. Lost about $80 in 3 minutes. Stay away from this sucker game! Also, slots seemed really tight. Best odds are on the 3 card poker. I won a lot of money there. I hit a 3 of a kind once : 6-6-6. How about that one?

Ah yes, 3-card poker. My friend and I were on the Imagination in 2002 and we would combine our money together and regardless of who won whatever amount of $$$, we'd split the difference. Well, the first night, I was dealt 2 3-of a kinds and a straight flush (was playing between $10-$25) and the 2nd and 3rd nights, he was the hot hand. On the 4th night, it was me with the luck again. Overall, by the end of the cruise, we had amassed $1,800 and it covered our barbills, excursions, and spending money in the ports. I'm aware that kind of luck doesn't always run so rampant in the casino, but we figured we'd double our chances of hitting a big hand by doing this.

For all the deck drinkers - Order all your drinks from the same barserver during the week. By mid-week they usually slip you a free one now and again. In our case, a bucket or two. At minimum, you can make sure there's a little kick in your mix drinks.

Great ideas!! We are sailing on the 26th from Tampa on the Sensation. This is our first cruise so all these ideas will come in really handy!!

Anyone know if there is a secret door on the Sensation? We are going for our 10th anniversary so it would be nice to find a spot without too many ppl at it

thanks

If you are going on an excurtion the next day that does not include lunch...order sandwichs the night before from room service and put them in the frig overnight.

We've even ordered them in the morning. I'm sure they knew we weren't going to eat sandwhiches at 7am, but they were great later in the day. Be aware that for many of the stops, it is illegal to bring meat (I know so in Mexico). So, you might possibly be breaking the law, but we've never had a problem (I get PBJ anyway).

As people noted above, we always get a few boxes of cereal (Special K, Cheerios are good to eat dry and with hands) and take them in our bag without the cardboard box.

We also carry ziploc bags of varying sizes - from sandwhich up to quart. You just never know when they'll come in handy and fit in the little compartments of your suitcase you never use anyway.

We did the art auction on our last cruise. I actually won $1000 in free art because I guessed the closest to the actual value of a painting they had displayed. There were several people at the first art auction that week due to the free champagne, but the numbers dwindled as the week went on. We will definitely attend the auctions during our next cruise.

Like Robstrash said, we usually take some cereal, but to help get us through getting off the ship and to the airport. I've never tried the room service thing for ports though because of the agriculture laws in different countries- just in case. Wouldn't want to wind up in jail for eating my sandwich now :)
