Kudos2Fly Posted September 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2006 When Carnival sends out the docs, they normally say what the standard tips are per-day. But I look through Royal Caribbean docs and they don't give that info. We are planning on paying for our tips by cash this time. Does anyone know what the standard is for Royal Caribbean per-day. I know there is a standard thought out the cruise companies, but can't remember what it is. I hoping someone knows this. Kim

PhoenixCruiser Posted September 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2006 The tip calculator (created by TP Keller) is an excellent resource: http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/ ###
SeaScout Posted September 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Just off the AOS this past sunday and I'm holding my folio in my hand. We put our tips on our sea pass account and the amount per passenger was $68.25 each for a seven day cruise. If you are in a suite it would be slightly more. I forget the exact breakdown of who gets what. It is customary to tip your room steward, head waiter, waiter and asst. waiter. Bar service tips are added at the time of service at a rate of 15%. You can tip more if you want to. At the end of our cruise we felt that everyone did a good job, so we added a little extra cash to the envelopes we handed to staff. Towards the end of the cruise you will recieve a sheet of paper and envelopes in your room that gives a breakdown on the suggested gratuities. You can also get a copy at the pursers desk at anytime. WECoyote Posted September 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Fresh off the RCi site: What are gratuity guidelines for cruises? So that you can thank those who have made your cruise vacation better than you could have imagined, we've developed these gratuity guidelines: Suite attendant: $5.75 USD a day per guest - Stateroom attendant: $3.50 USD a day per guest - Dining Room Waiter: $3.50 USD a day per guest - Assistant Waiter: $2.00 USD a day per guest - Headwaiter: $.75 USD a day per guest Note: These gratuities apply to guests of all ages. Gratuities for other service personnel are at your discretion. A 15% gratuity will automatically be added to your bar bill or wine check when you are served. As stated, you can have these added directly to your seapass account if you so desire. You will be provided with paper vouchers to put in your envelopes. Your servers/attendants will receive the money in about two weeks...or you can use cash (we do) and they have it immediately
BearySweet2Cruise Posted September 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2006 You can add your tips prepaid in advance to your reservation or pay in cash to the appropriate persons in the envelopes given to you on the last night. I prefer to do cash at the end and hand deliver them. Just be sure to to how ever you choose to do so, :)
cb at sea Posted September 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2006 All of this info is in the cruise brochure--if you don't have one (you should!) go to any TA and ask them for one! Tell them your thinking about a cruise and they will give you one. Or you can get one from RCI's website. You really should have one--everything you need to know is in there. TPKeller Posted September 22, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2006 PhoenixCruiser already posted the link... just wanted to add, if you are planning to use cash, the tip calculator is designed just for you! It not only tells you how much your recommended tips will be (which is helpful no matter what method you choose), then it tells you the number of each kind of bill you will need to stuff the individual envelopes. This is the time saving feature that was the whole reason I wrote it to begin with! :D You can print it out and take it right to the bank, or wherever you get your cash.
