We are headed to the bahamas for 3 days on NCL Sky April 30-3 May. This will be our first NCL experience, our past cruises have been on Princess. The price for a weekend getaway was too hard to pass up so we booked up today. We are looking forward to trying a new line and a short itinerary. Anyone sail Sky before?

Have not been on the Sky but have sailed NCL and Princess. Like NCL better. In fact I am boarding the sun in 3 hours !!!! woohoo

cheers,

Paddy Anne

My wife (5 years this year -- thanks Canada), our daughter, my mom, sister-in-law, niece and nephew are going on a Disney cruise this coming winter. We tend to get along with most everyone, and had a nice time on our Royal Carribean cruise a few years ago. I'm wondering if anyone else has done a family disney trip....R Vacations are prohibitedly expensive -- we simply couldn't afford to do one. Curious about the reaction on Disney...however...we have thick skin.

Hi there, I am also from Toronto. I sailed Carnival, RC, and NCL with my kids and never had an issue. Once we even sailed with my partner and my daughter father and his GF. Just how it is and everyone was friendly. We had 3 rooms with the kids in the middle and all three joined on the balcony. The room stewards I think tried all week to get it. LOL

We always have a great time.

cheers,

Paddy Anne

Hello All.

My partner and I have taken 3 cruises together (2 regular, 1 Olivia).

We're off to the Caribbean again on April 11th on the Celebrity Solstice. There are a bunch of guys on our roll call but no women.

Anita (my partner) & I went on the Solstice for the inaugural last November. She is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL ship! We met a couple of guys (very nice) that were "family" but no women, so I know exactly what you mean.

Enjoy the Solstice!

Angel :)

I have been on Olivia twice and about 8 regular cruises. Olivia is definitely an experience I treasure. I normally go about my life pretty out and don't worry about whether my good friends are straight or gay. But still Olivia was great for me.

EVERYTHING is about being a lesbian. You're surrounded by thousands of lesbians. The dance floor is all lesbians. The entertainers are all lesbian. The entertainers do all the entertainment -- so even when you play bingo, there's a lesbian doing that and because they're comedians, it's very funny as well.

Like I said, my regular life, I don't think much about being a lesbian. But the trip was great!

We just came back from our first Olivia experience, having always wanted to do it. I agree with Jackie's assessment. The Olivia experience was a complete blast and we are planning on doing our next cruise through Olivia as well.

For one week our environment completely changed -- we were the mainstream. We weren't looking for "family" to hang out or seeing if the FOD meeting could work on our schedules... it was about us and for us.

The other part of the experience that I wasn't prepared for was what it would look like to the merchants (or the other cruisers) in port to have 1,400 lesbians come off a ship and what a difference we could make in a town. On our cruise, some of the women organized "pay it forward" activities to bring school supplies to Mexican school children and needed supplies for a Roatan orphanage.

On a lighter side, we basically took over Margaritaville and Senor Frogs in Cozumel and the port side pool/beach in Costa Maya (below).

We were on the Sky when it was the Pride of Aloha sailing the Hawaiian Islands. It is an older ship, but fine. I think when they renamed it back to the Sky they refubished it and put the casino back in. We have looked at doing the quick 3 or 4 day Sky sailings to the Bahamas just like you because the price is so great.

We have started sailing mostly with Carnival. We like them and the price, but have sailed on several different lines. We are booked on the Carnival Freedom on Oct. 9, 2010 for an Eastern Caribbean cruise. Anyone like to join us?

Hi my other half and I are 56 and 49 and we cruise quite a bit. We are in NC and have been on 3 Disney Cruises and One Holland Cruise. We took a 15 day Hawaiian cruise and the average age was 85 so needless to say, we didnt have many people to converse with. We dont do bars and such, just like to take it easy and have a few drinks and enjoy the shows. We are taking a Disney Eastern Caribbean in Oct. of 2010 and then again in 2011. We love Disney as their entertainment is beyond this world, but we would love to hear how you all feel about the other cruise lines and possibly have some other couples to cruise with. Jan

My partner Robin and I (Rita), together 15 years, really enjoying cruising. Took her a while to convince me I wouldn't be completely bored, but after that first time, I am ready at the drop of a hat. We are fortunate to live only 30 minutes from the cruise terminal in Galveston and take advantage whenever we can. I am semi-retired and Robin mostly works weekends so we have been able to take some of the Carnival Monday thru Friday cruises. We have not been on Olivia. After reading reviews, pro and con, we decided we could best use the extra bucks in other ways.

We sometimes travel with friends, gay, lesbian and straight. We have never encountered any problems on any of the ships we have been on. Since there is a 17 year age gap, most people assume we are mother and daughter and then when we are with our gay friends who also have a substantial age gap, it is assumed we are straight couples. Just depends on the circumstances whether we clarify or not. We are all definitely out.

We will be sailing on Carnival Conquest April 11 with our gay traveling friends. Anyone else on that trip? Would be nice to meet others from this thread.

You will love Disney, we have been many a time and have had no problems, had lots of fun matter of fact.

First let me start by saying hello...Hello Jan! LOL!

My name is Angel (soon to be 45) and my partner is AnitaMarie (46). We also love to cruise and are somewhat "addicted" to it! :p

We have never cruised on Disney and I would love to try it. Our next cruise will be on the Emerald Princess but our favorite cruise line is Carnival. It was the first cruise line that we went on together! ;)

Happy Cruising,

Angel :)

We LOVE Carnival too...! :p

We had such a great time on the Carnival Freedom last year in May! Our original plan was to sail on the Carnival Dream on a B2B in May this year. We were so excited about going on this new Carnival ship!

Well, early this year, we got the opportunity to use one of the "graduation" cruises that we earned from Princess as both AnitaMarie (TA/my partner) and I have taken the classes and have reached their Commodore status. They offer a cruise for "free" but it only covers an inside cabin (which we upgraded to a balcony). We decided to take this one first because with the money we saved, we are able to take my Mom (age 67) on her first cruise! We still have another "graduation" cruise coming to us from Princess but I really think that I would rather go on the Carnival Dream next year and maybe hold off on Princess until later. I miss Carnival already :(! LOL!

I know that many of you have been asking about a possible way that we can go on a cruise together! Well I started a thread called "I have a DREAM (pun intended)! :p Take a look at it and let me know your thoughts. I was thinking about possibly doing it in 2011 but nothing is "etched in stone" so if there are other ideas about a different ship/cruiseline/year even, let me know!

As I have said in previous posts on this thread, we would love to have the Olivia experience (and maybe someday we will), but at this point, our budget does not allow us to pay the higher price and I could rather spend the extra money while I am actually on the ship! I think it would be lots of fun for all of us to "get together" (like the guys do)!

So ladies, if anyone feels the same way...let's do it! ;)

Angel :)

Hi ladies,

I posted on this thread last year but it must have been a quiet time. My wife Melinda and I are both 33 and together 11 years. We cruise almost exclusively with Princess and we love it.

I wanted to say that I agree with the comments that Olivia & Rfamily etc. are too expensive for us. We were fortunate to be able to go on an RFamily cruise in July 2008 to Canada (where we got married, go Canada!:D) but since then it just has not seemed worth it. I would rather take a longer cruise with a better itinerary in a balcony or mini-suite.

Anyway, we will be on The Emerald Princess in Jan for a 10 day if anyone else is interested.

Hello All - I am a frequent reader of this thread but rarely a poster. I feel like I know so many of you from following the threads. We have also relocated this year, from California to Harrisburg, PA. Quite a culture shock, but I have finally achieved a career change that I have been pursuing for years!

We have sailed with Olivia a number of times, but due to our decreased income, we are now looking for more economical choices (and my wife can't give up that balcony..) We have just booked the Noordam Southern Caribbean leaving 11/3/10. We are pretty loyal to HAL, have sailed several other lines but just like HAL best. We would however sail Silverseas if we won the lottery :D.

Just wanted to say Hi and wish you all safe and wonderful travels. Maybe someday I will meet some of you.

Blessings,

Suzanne

Hi Stephensmom! It's Evergreen, I remember you from the old Forum. We never were on the same cruise though. Sorry that we never met.

Sorry to hear you aren't doing any Olivia too.

Wish you all the best in your new endeavour & "happy sailing"................
