cruiser407 Posted March 16, 2007 #451 Share Posted March 16, 2007 After getting quotes from several companies, I finallly decided to go with Airport Transportation/Limo Service. An emoployee at Harbor House recommended this company and I am very glad. The owner is very nice and accommadating. So far, this company appears to provide professional, courteous and reliable service at reasonable prices. They actually monitor your flight so they will know when you actually land insuring you will not have to wait. This is not a shuttle service, therefore, you will not be making several stops before getting to your destination. Give this company a call and ask for a list of their references: they have many. According to the info they faxed to me their prices are as follows: --Houston Hobby to Galveston - 1 to 3 people $95.00; 3 & over $35 per person. --IAH to Galveston - 1-3 people $135.00; 3 & over $40 per person. According to the info I received "all fees are included in prices above. Gratuity fee is between you and the driver, it is optional" Also, to get a quote specific to your requirement give them a call. Airport Transportation Services Dwayne Johnson 866-926-9300 (toll free) 281-585-7200 832-891-9690 (cell) airportcar@prodigy.net Hope this helps. My group of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) will be using their services on [arriving] April 13 & [departing] April 22. I will be sure get on this board and let you all know if Airport Transportation lives up to my expectations. We have the same itinerary-do you know if they are flexible on timing or is there a schedule? We have a shuttle booked but are thinking the timing is not great.

tonid1980 Posted March 16, 2007 #454 Share Posted March 16, 2007 They also have disposable waterproof digital cameras now... pretty cheap and available at walmart. I decided to go with the disposable one vs. the real deal waterproof dig. camera on the fact the one my pawpaw (who buys and sells cameras) was tooo bulky... but it all goes to what you want. there are smaller ones too, i think. I just bought an underwater digital camera casing (DICAPAC).. I tested it...and its great...and about 25% of the cost of a hard casing... depends on your camera type though... take a gander http://cgi.ebay.com/UNDERWATER-CAMERA-CASE-FOR-CANON-POWERSHOT-S400-S410_W0QQitemZ200087856650QQcategoryZ50506QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem their ebay store has a few versions... CATAHOULA Posted March 18, 2007 #462 Share Posted March 18, 2007 we'll be staying at the harbor house inn in galveston. i'll be on the lookout for you as we embark. we don't plan to get there to early, however. we have vip check-in so i'm hoping to not have to wait long to get on the ship. me and prolonged standing don't get along. i see you were on the holiday in 03. i sailed on her in 04. i think that it is the smallest and oldest ship still sailing. it was my only previous cruise. i had a great time on it, so i'm sure that i'll have an even better time on a ship the size of the conquest. what excursions are you going on? i'm horseback riding in jamaica, snorkeling in grand cayman, and xcaret in cozumel/playa del carmen. If im not badly mistaken the Catahoula Cur Dog is so named because it originated in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana....also it is a wives tale in LA that a true curr has one glass eye leading to the saying...thats an ole glass eyed curr dog. My uncle had one several years ago and it was a real good dog.
millerwave Posted March 19, 2007 #472 Share Posted March 19, 2007 i have reserved 2 cabins for 7/8. One OV(6a), One inside(1a). My hubby is active duty military (afghanistan right now) so we received a military discount. Is the riviera deck ok? the inside room looks like it is right behind the elevator with Ocean view right across hall. Will noise be a problem?(room looks like it runs a different direction than other rooms in hall - lengthwise instead of front to back. Does that make sense?) PVP said we could have 2 Inside rooms on a higher deck for about same price....would that be better? We are spending a huge amt of money (Me, DH and 3 kids) so I don't want to be disappointed with rooms. We don't need luxury, won't spend much time in them, but I don't want kids to be in a noisy broom closet either.I did just receive an email about free upgrade sale on thursday....are there "levels" of inside rooms/ocean view rooms? My hubby & I cruised RC last year, but never done Carnival before. Sorry, I'm a newbie at all of this....I'm not very good with the whole reservation/best price kind of thing and want to be sure I'm getting best deal/room for our money. Ship Addict Posted March 19, 2007 #474 Share Posted March 19, 2007 That's a Catahoula Cur? I was born and raised in New Orleans, and spent most of my teenage life in McComb, MS, and we had several Catahoula Curs. They were all splotchy gray with bright blue eyes. That guy looks like a black and tan. She is black and grey with tan legs. Her eyes are half brown and half blue, cut right across the middle of the eye. It's really freaky. When we first got her (from the pound) I quickly realized she wasn't the Australian Shepherd they had promised her to be, so I did a little research and figured out she was a Catahoula. She looked just like the dogs on several websites I found. She looks like she could even be show quality, except for the one ear that won't stand up. Sorry. I just went online to look at them and yes yours is a Catahoula. Sweet loyal wonderful dogs. Yes, they are wonderful dogs. But she ate my house when she was a puppy!! If you don't keep them busy they get into all kinds of trouble! But she is now old and crotchety and just lays around on the couch. Yes, that's how I understand they got their name too. She does kind of look like she has a glass eye. They are really freaky and she has scared many a stranger!
Septemberbride07 Posted March 19, 2007 #475 Share Posted March 19, 2007 Does anyone know the name of the captain on the Conquest? On a Princess cruise in 2003, I met the captain at that time and was wondering if it's the same one. Thanks! Tricia
