Ecstasy versus Conquest: Dire Differences?

Recommended Posts

So, I noticed that the Ecstasy does have sushi (yay!) but no "specialty restuarants." What does that mean? On the Conquest, we loved Paul's Deli, PC Wok, Sur Mer, and the specialty supper club, The Pointe, I believe. Is this what is meant by "specialty restaurants?"

I take this to mean the food selection is a bit more limited; do they have the pizzeria and Sky Grille?

Any thoughts on comparing the two ships?

The Conquest has the Supper Club. The Ecstasy is a Fantasy class ship of 70,000 tons compared to the Conquest 109,000 or so tons. It does not have the Supper Club or the two extra side offerings on Lido. The Ecstasy will have pizza, a deli and some kind of grill out by the pool doing hamburgers and hotdogs etc. I believe it will also have sushi. (at least the Fantasy did last month)

You are correct that the food selection will be more limited on the Ecstasy..no fish n chips....but still plenty to go around.

The ships are very different....the Conquest is newer and much larger and the Ecstasy is the opposite. I personally have enjoyed my trips on the Ecstasy very much, because it is smaller there are less people and it is easier to get around. For me, specialty restaurants are not something I look for. Yes it does have sushi, deli sandwich area (the turkey and reubens are awesome), pizza, 24hour icecream and the hamburger/hot dog grill out by the main pool.

They take great care of the ship and it has been recently upgraded w/ flat screen tvs and the new bedding. It looked great in Sept and I just planned another trip March 15th!! Can't wait :)

I love the Ecstasy!

I'm taking my sixth trip on her in March. I enjoyed my 5th trip on her the first week of 2007.

This comparison is not apples to apples...Conquest vs. Ecstasy...two totally different Carnival products, each with it's own pros and cons.

I agree, 2 totally different ships. The Conquest does have far more food choices, and the supper club... the waterslide goes into a trough rather than pool, the Conquest is just HUGE compared to the Fantasy class ships... the Conquest has a really nice sushi bar, with decent sushi and inexpensive sake. The Conquest has a retractable roof on the AFT pool... wow, just so many differences. Depends on what you are looking for... I like both classes, for different reasons. The Fantasy class ships are more intimate, smaller, easier to get around, not quite the crowds and lines... The Conquest is bigger, seems to be more to do, like the discos better, but the layout for the bars/lounges, etc is similar to the Fantasy class, being centrally located. Fish and Chips on the Conquest Class, yummy!! You can't go wrong with either, but you really are comparing two completely different ships.

Glad to hear that there are so many of you guys that love Ecstasy.. We are looking for a cruise in the next few months to take my parents on.. Me and my fiancee have done Conquest twice and although we really love her, I want to try Ecstasy as we havent cruised this ship yet.. and my dad cant walk alot so the smaller ship will probably be just what he needs.. this will be my parents first cruise and I really am looking forward to this trip.. Ive heard so much good stuff about Ecstasy that I think we will go with this one this time..

My parents are in their late 70s and have some "old folk" issues...limited mobility, etc. A few years ago we got them to agree to "try" a 4 nighter on the Ecstasy, with the promise that we'd fly them home from Cozumel if they hated cruising.

We're leaving on March 1 on the Ecstasy for our 4th annual cruise. They absolutely love it...and the Ecstasy.

They're even ready to "try" a Conquest cruise in the fall.

I think your parents will like the small size and easy getting around on the Ecstasy.

Thank you so much for the reassurance.. They are really looking forward to going on their first cruise but I worry about how my dad will get around.. He was against a scooter but I did get him to agree to at least be in a wheelchair for embarkation, debarkation and at the ports.. otherwise he wouldnt be able to get around because there is so much walking.. I did tell him that he doesnt need to use it if he doesnt want to on the actual ship as he can stop and rest all he needs.. I am really looking forward to this trip too..

If he isn't keen on a wheelchair, consider a Rollator-type walker.

My mom broke her foot in November, and it hasn't healed well. She ended up having surgery in December and was confined to a wheelchair. Her surgeon expects to have her putting weight on that foot again soon, but did have us request a modified access cabin so accomodate her Rollator. Modified Access Cabins have a 29" entry door instead of the standard 21" entry door. This size door can accomodate most wheelchairs. He'll need to be able to stand and walk into the bathroom however.

Fully Accessible Cabins may also be available on your sailing if he can't stand at all.

You can contact Guest Access Services at 1-800-438-6744 X 70025 or specialneeds@carnival.com

Have a wonderful cruise!

I agree with all the posts...i.e...completely different ships each with pros & cons.

Some things which quickly came to me that I really like about Ecstasy:

1. Lobby and atrium bar is non smoking 2. Hold'em Poker tables are outside casino and also non smoking 3. new furnishings in cabins 4. they have added hot sandwiches to deli-Reubens as good as Conquest now 5. love the neon!
