Sea Days, what do you do?

Recommended Posts

The cold bitter snowy weather along the Jersey Shore got me thinking today. We will be leaving a year from today on Explorer of the Seas for 12 Night Southern Caribbean cruise out of Bayonne, NJ. It has 2 sea days going and coming back. I usually enjoy sitting out on the deck reading and soaking up the warm sun on out to sea days. But what do you do if the weather is too cold and nasty to sit up on the deck?

So that's my question, what do you like to do on nasty cold sea days like that?

Head for the Solarium, read one of the books I bring along. Watch a movie- but that always makes me fall asleep...so I guess take a nap. Go to the Casio. Play cards. Shop. Have a snack or 2.

Usually on sea days like that the crew seems to come up with fun things to do, extra games, dance lessons, something fun always turns up.

It is also relaxing to sit on the balcony under a blanket and just watch the sea.

Always take an extra Bonnine...LOL

You can find fun things to do on the ship. Just think of the alternative. Many flights are cancelled out of NY today. I you had to fly you might not be going at all. There is so much else to do on a ship other than be on an open deck or just dress warm and go out anyway!!! You will have a wonderful time.

We're going on a 12 night in January. I'm planning to see all the indoor areas of the ship that i missed. Find a nice lounge to relax, read, chat, or whatever. It's a beautiful ship. :)

Well, I'm a chair hog!!! Get my chair early in the morning and then I sit in the sun all day and enjoy the warm weather. Get a bite to eat, do some shopping in the shops on board, take a nap, go to the casino...and what ever else I feel like doing on vacation. SOmetimes I like the days at sea better than the ports.

Win some money in the casino.

Win some money at bingo.

Read a book.

Browse thru the shops one more time.

Have a snack at the Cafe Promenade and watch the other passengers wander by.

Go to the Arcade and be a kid again. Race cars, shoot the bad guys, play skee ball or anything else fun you can find to do there.

Take a nap.

Well, that probably won't work too well on the first and last sea days for Explorer out of New Jersey in March! It'll be too darned cold coming up the Eastern Seaboard! And as I recall, the Solarium is not covered, either, so it'll be pretty chilly there as well.

How about going to a movie? or a craft class? Maybe they'll have a wine tasting, or a demo on how to decorate cakes or fold napkins or do "towel-gami".... Name That Tune... Trivia Contest... Go ice skating...

With cold or bad weather we usually sleep in late and then have a late breakfast.

Then we usually wander around the ship, doing any activities we saw in the compass that interested us.

Then a light lunch.

Check email and get a copy of our seapass bill.

We hit the gym/sauna/steam room.

Then it is back to the cabin to watch a movie.

We usually order room service around then. Tea and cookies.

Then we nap before dinner.

Set alarm to get up and shower :)

I love sea days. They always seem to go by so quickly though. After the leisurely wake up, breakfast, pool, bar, lunch and other activities, it seems before you know it, it's time to get ready for dinner.

Where does the time go?????? Why can't cruise time drag along as slowly as the waiting to cruise time?
