DisneyKidsDad Posted August 11, 2011 #5476 Share Posted August 11, 2011 I guess you won't be there? I'm sure May will not let us go unnoticed. I'm not sure about the castle thing, they actually talked about it at puppy class but John wasn't there and I actually forgot about it. At the time John was still in rehab and I wasn't thinking that far ahead. Cindy No Cindy, I have to work. I only get to go to the graduations on Saturdays. And starting in 2012 there won't be any. Hopefully we will see you guys in CT next Saturday. Congrats on the cruise. We are looking into doing the Disney cruise to Alaska in 2013.

That's really going to cut-down on the folks who can attend [maybe that's the thought!]
wizard-of-roz Posted August 11, 2011 Author #5478 Share Posted August 11, 2011 You're not being a baby. It is very emotional, John was crying as soon as the graduation begun, and I soon after. You are awesome and I know you will get the best dog!!! Hang in there, thats what you would tell me. And yes the Solstice is new!!!! WoooooHooooo we just booked it!!!! I am very excited to go on this ship. We needed a change from HAL. We go in January and we are going western caribbean this time. Tomorrow we leave for NY for the graduation, and will be back Friday. Talk to you then, maybe you will have an answer from CCI. Cindy I'm at work now and I can say it again......Congratulations, on your upcoming Soltice cruise. Sounds wonderful! I've heard great things about the ship. I love having a cruise to look forward to.

Boy, you folks on the east coast sure get treated nicely. Graduations on the other coast are held on the grounds of CCI/Church's/Old Missions or various, donated recreation halls. Of course, most folks don't see a thing, we're all too busy weeping! :o

And I think if you go to the graduation, it includes admission into the park for the day.

guitarest Posted August 12, 2011 #5485 Share Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) OK what a week so far from the brat 2 days ago to the Red Neck today. So today I was at Rouses today and I believe I am being tested by someone. So this is how my day went, I turned down the second isle and this older man was walking my way and he said something that I did not catch. I said excuse me to him and he said it again, "That dog does not belong in here" after he said that he then threatened to shoot Blitz and me. I then said excuse me can you please repeat that again which he does and walks very quickly away mumbling again how he was going to shoot Blitz. I mean ***** did I do, I tried to explain that Blitz was a service animal although he did want to hear it nor did he care. So then the funny thing happened, his wife (I'm assuming that what she was) started yelling at her husband to come back and rescue her from the mean German Shepherd, the man never returned and the woman got really upset. She started crying right in front of me and then I asked if she wanted by, I stepped back and Blitz during this entire time was sitting. The woman quickly rushes by me and once she gets past me she starts yelling curse words at me and Blitz again and running towards her old man. They both quickly left the store and the second time in two days the staff at the store came over and appologized to me for the rude people. There was a store clerk real close to us when this happened and she was the first to say they can't choose who is allowed in the store. I mean serious for over a year nothing but great expirences, fantastic people and then these two situations almost back to back. There was another shopper next to me when this happened and she even felt bad for me and Blitz then we ended up talking for 20 minutes about grand babies and my fish tanks. Ok so what would have you experts done in that situation. I know if I wasn't in such bad shape today since I spent most the day being examined at the VA and was in extreme pain I would have hauled off and knocked them both upside the head. Yes I'm venting, I just can't believe my luck two days in a row. I can't wait to see what the weekend brings..... Trust me Roz, these meeting rooms in these hotels are nothing to write home about. Now Sea World down in Orlando is another story. They are a big supporter of the Orlando campus. They even have a picture if a CCI dog in their special needs pamphlet by the potty spot.

wizard-of-roz Posted August 12, 2011 Author #5491 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Jocko: I've had some really horrible experiences some of which I've shared on this thread, many pages ago. I'm sorry that happened to you, it feels so awful and you want to become so defensive of your dog.......I promise you.....the moron's who are exhibiting the behavior could care less about the ADA or the DOJ or anything else pertaining to the dog. They're either scared or allergic or just plain stupid [as DKD pointed out!] I've had to call the police; I've had a manager fired from his job; I've had two security guards at Ceaser's Palace, in Las Vegas, follow and escort me around the casino; I've had the entire sales staff at JC Penney's go through "sensitivity training"; and many more stories - all on behalf of "Brenda" entering their establishments. It's not easy walking or wheeling around with a dog, in more ways than one!!!! But, I, personally, will not stop doing it. I've lived MY LIFE without a Working Dog and then, with one.......I will not live it without one again! I start the sentence and Brenda adds the exclamation mark!!!!!! cjborne2 Posted August 12, 2011 #5492 Share Posted August 12, 2011 DKD- We did the Disney Alaskan cruise this past June and LOVED IT! There are things I'd do differently when it goes to excursions but over all had a great time. Alaska is beautiful and it was nice to go on a summer vacation where we didn't have to worry about it being too hot for Ollie. We are kicking around the idea of going to WDW for spring break. wizard-of-roz Posted August 12, 2011 Author #5493 Share Posted August 12, 2011 UPDATE: I got a call this morning from Megan, at CCI, Santa Rosa. She informed me that I am #1 on the Waiting List. I was not contacted for Sept. Team Training because in my file it stated that I was going on a family cruise Sept. 24th and would not be available. It's true, I did say this at my interview. I'm sorry I did. I wouldn't be going through such ankst! I told her to pull the note, that I was insured for this cruise [imagine what the insurance company is going to do when I tell them I can't cruise because I'm getting a Service Dog!] This should be interesting. She said the class is full, participants have been matched with dogs, but there is a 50/50 chance that a dog will be ready by August 26th. She said they've been observing a dog who shows great intelligence and ability to go through Team Training and graduate. She said this is not a guarantee that the dog will continue to show such promise because they don't like to rush the dogs but it's looking good. She will call me on the 26th, one way or another to let me know that the dog is or is not ready. If it's not ready then, I will definitely be called for the January class. She wouldn't tell me anything about the dog! I'm glad. Thanks guys for, once again, being my sounding board. I'll let you know what happens on the 26th. I guess just knowing that I'm #1 on the waitlist really helps!!!!! And, I feel so lucky that if I have to wait until January, Brenny and I can cruise together, one last time in September.......all's good!!!!! And, I got a postcard from Princess with their 3 day sale, starting on August 17th "California Coastal" - Insides starting at $599 for March 24, 2012, onboard the Sapphire. I'm going to jump on that one and take "Successor" with me. I'll call it the "do-over" cruise!!!!!
