bungee cord question

A lot of people talk about leaving the doors open while the air is running. But I wonder how many really do that once onboard.

From the number of times this gets asked I suspect a lot of people do this.

Would you do it at home?

Uh....I hesitate to comment, but yes, I have done that at home on many occassions. (While airing out after flooding for example)

Would I do it on cruise? No! I get plenty of humidity here in Nebraska, don't need it in my stateroom in the Caribbean.

I think if you'll refer to the original post, i never asked about propping door open while leaving A/C on....................only question was what size bungee.........this is because we are travelling with a small group and will be "partying" on the balcony, thus the question about removing the dividers----and please don't tell me this is a hazzard too??!!

Anyway, NEVERMIND!!!....I'll bring a couple and make something work. This board is getting ridiculous......

As I responded WAY above:

We used a 12" one and didn't have a problem.

I will also add that we brought several and used them to strap our carry-ons to the rolling bags so we didn't have to lift them...... worked quite well.....

and...... the dividers can be opened if you just ask your room steward.

Would you do it at home?

My labrador retriever taught herself how to and opens our back door by herself all the time. She knows how to stand on her back legs, put one paw on the wall, put the other paw on the door lever, pull down and toward her. We have not been able to teach her how to close the door though. So, yes, the door is often left open with the air conditioning on.

By the way, our standard poodle is not smart enough to figure this trick out. He has however, figured out how to bark at our lab to get her to open the door for him! :D
Sorry purplefrog, we're just having some fun - it's all good....
I wasn't directing my comment at most of you.......thanks for the answers from those who gave them. It's those select few who are "on the boards" all the time and feel like they must make comments on every thread, pertinent or not. It just gets old.

FYI, my husband owns an HVAC company and assures me that running the A/C with doors open would absolutely NOT cause a fire hazard, it would simply cause the system to not cool well. Just like if you run your a/c at home and leave the doors open.........your home won't burn down, it just won't get cool. Thanks for your opinion though.

What happens when you leave the door open and the air on is probably nothing in your cabin, however, the warm air you allow in the room migrates into the ceiling and will condense on the ceiling of adjacent cabins, allowing their ceiling to drip over everthing!! Please don't leave door open!!

why no i am not in the cruise ship business, and i was not trying to start a verbal argument eather. i was just trying to say that there is no posible way that a 25amp heating/cooling sytem is going to put a drain on that large of an electrical service. by the way im an electrical engineer and have been for a long time so i do know a little bit when it comes to this type of thing. have a good one guys, im glad we are keeping everyone entertaned

The ship's heating and cooling system is constantly "ON". the temperature in each cabin is controlled by dampers that open and close to mix warm and cool air. There are no "air conditioners" to turn on or off. As stated before, your cabin will be warm and humid, but the ship HVAC system will not be affected.

And yes, I am an engineer that knows a thing or two about the type of system. BTW, doen't anyone out there open their sunroof on their cars with the A/C on like I do?

At least by leaving the cabin door open you won't have your camcorder shut down from condensation when you take it outside.
