Thanks Geoff!!

Just to add, this adds an image that updates every time the page is loaded or refreshed. To get an image that doesn't change, you can do it the way you have before as an attachment, or you can load it into webshots and copy\paste the large pic from there

Cheers

Allo Allo - the time seems to have stopped on the cruise cam. No advance since 13 past ! :(

Mac

Yep, frustrating - maybe they are getting camera shy! :)

Hope it is only frozen, and not intentionally stopped.

May-be with extra wieght of all of us on board they are having new problems

No jokes a side I had also noted that but they are not due in until 2030 so may-be they are wasteing time or something

Hi Frog,

I figure they would be already berthed in Brisbane to allow the crew to be disembarked, before being escorted into drydock. I can understand why every minute matters for you.

I realise that there are a lot of unhappy people out there, but how about a fair go for the Star. A review of the cruise just after the last dry dock was excellent. The current problem has just cropped up and is being fixed. I am due for my maiden cruise on the Star in September and I for one can't wait.

We never blame the boat, just the company that maintains it. The problem is that the Australian market isnt very big, therefore we get older boats, but older boats shouldnt mean more breakdowns, its just that they need to spend more on maitenence and I not sure that they are. The boat is booked one cruise after another, with no regular time booked into dock for repairs. Maybe they need to look at this..Its not the boat we blame but the people who look after her. We love her just as you do, that is why it is our 2nd trip in less than a year, but we are very anxious. We really have been looking forward to this trip.

It is a bit odd that they appear to have deliberatley covered the webcam, especially considering last time it was in dry dock the camera was on. Perhaps they're teasing us all for the big reveal of a brand new COLOUR camera?? :p

My wife, infant son and I were on the 'Alang express' aka Pacific Star for the August 7th cruise from Princes Warf on-route to Queens Warf Auckland. We are obviously hacked off about our cruise being cancelled, as well as all the lies from P & O. The cruise was never, at any point going to eventuate as the ship had serious problems which were apparent to P & O before we boarded the ship.

The problems on the ship [in my professional opinion as a shipwright]related to the water ballast system that is used to trim the ship and keep it level and stable at rest, unlike the stabiliser fins which trim the boat when sailing. For the first twelve hours of the 'non-cruise' the vessel was listed approx. 3 degrees to port, and was quite apparent to anyone who cast their eyes over the ships swimming pools water levels, even a glance at ones wine glass showed up the serious imbalance in the ships trim. When a ship is being loaded in port, it is expected that it will list from side to side as the bulk is moved around the ship, once all provisions, fuel and passengers are aboard the ship's engineers will then trim the vessel by pumping water to and from the ballast tanks to achieve the desired trim. Hence, a working water ballast system is integral to any large vessels sea worthiness.

For the duration of our three day, two night 'non-cruise', the ship was surrounded by divers specialising in under sea welding, cranes lifting machinery in and out of the boat at early hours of the mornings and teams of marine engineers [Titan Marine Engineering Auckland LTD], all seemingly working round the clock trying to get the ship seaworthy enough to cripple back to the panamax dry dock in Brisbane.

The general presentation of the ship was poor, she has clearly lived life to the fullest and is in desperate need of euthanizing on the beaches of Alang or Chittagong. The ships sewage system was also not functioning properly, but this was probably a by-product of flooded bilges as a result of the ballast problem.

Nothing could compensate us for what ended up being five days of misery, lies, sleepless nights and stress. The offer of 25% discount (we were told that we would receive 25% of the fare we had paid) on a future cruise is laughable - we booked this holiday over eight months in advance to get special discount rates and would have to pay almost double to go on a similar cruise before the end of the year. We have lost our holiday and are now more stressed than before it - we may not be able to get time off (let alone paid annual leave) to go on another one before the end of the year.

While P&O did put us up in a hotel in Auckland overnight and paid for meals, they deliberately lied to us in order to get us to accept the flight back home. The letter we were given stated that the arrival time was 7.30pm, destination Brisbane. Once at the Auckland airport we realised that they had booked us via Sydney and the arrival time in Brisbane was actually 11.00pm - two flights with a sick infant instead of one and due to one of our bags missing the flight (of course the one with all the medication and toiletries) we were not home until after 1.00am on Saturday morning.

A note for those travelling with small children, our pram did not fit through the door to our cabin and a 1 yo could easily fit through the railings and fall overboard. I would never book another cruise on this vessel, we will book another cruise on either the Pacific Dawn or the Pacific Sun and hope and pray that our luck is better next time.

Just a note to anybody carrying any medication.....ALWAYS carry it in your carry-on luggage. You never know when other luggage might go missing as it did for shortestcruise?

Also, shortestcruise?, I'm truly sorry that your hard earned holiday was cancelled and I really hope you have much better luck next time.

Can I ask, if you were told you get 25% off the fare you paid, why would another cruise cost twice as much?
