getting cash in the casino

On the Radiance back in November we went to the cashier in the casino many times for cash. Sometimes we used it in the casino, other times we just got it the night before we were in port so we would have spending money.

The money was just added to our sea pass account as a charge to RCCL.

On the Freedom they sometimes put it in Cruise Compass that you can get up to $2,000/day on SeaPass at the Casino Cashier.

On one of our cruises we saw one fellow taking the maximum each day and losing it in the casino. I don't recall what the max. was as it wasn't a RC ship. By day 5 or 6 when he tried to do so, he was told his credit card was maxed out when the casino tried to authorize the amount that day so he couldn't get any more funds on it. The way he played Black Jack with all the alcohol he consumed, this was a blessing in disguise but he wasn't very happy about it.

Exactly! Doing what I do is not "ruining" it for everyone. They of course want you to spend it in the casino, but they have no "rule" that you do. I mean you could say that people who go to the casino to get cash for their tips are "ruining" it for everyone because they are not using that cash in the casino.

I will continue to use to my advantage what RCL allows in their casinos. Imagine what I can withdraw on a 15 day cruise!!!

Lets hope that you don't get mugged, robbed or other wise lose the $ on your way home after the cruise or do you run immediately to the nearest acceptable ATM or bank to deposit your stash. Not really a smart move travelling with 10 or 30 grand. Not very ethical IMHO even if there is no actual rule written that forbids this. I can see by your actions are why Princess has a 3% service fee for cash advances in their casinos. This is taking advantage of a courtesy offered from the cruise line to the very extreme. I can see you are very proud of your actions but if it was me I would not be bragging about it.

I like to save $ when cruising but use sales, discounts, special offers and doing our own tours and transfers both before and while onboard a cruise to do this.

Well said Bob! The ship is not a bank. Please people earn your points on your credit cards some other way. You can't truly believe that the cruise line approves of what your are doing-getting large amounts of cash for points. I like knowing that if I run out of cash I will be able to get a little more on my sea pass at no charge so I can keep playing in the casino.

Please don't ruin this for those of us who don't abuse it.

Of course when you re-enter the US you realize that you will have to check Yes to the question as to whether or not you are carrying $10,000 or more in US currency. CBP tends to pay a bit more attention to those people than they do to the rest of us.

Oh please. Someone could get a $500 advance and turn it into $10,000 with a great run of cards or at craps. Suddenly the casino has become a bank. The casino knows they will get it back through their advantage, but if he walks away he has done nothing wrong.

Same as with taking their policy and using it to my advantage (and believe it or not there are others who do the same thing). The points do not go towards cruises but towards airline miles and other things.

As long as it is available, I and others are going to make the most of it.

The chances of me being mugged are exactly the same whether I am carrying $10 or $10,000.

but you lose more when you have 10 grand on you if it does happen.

Keep doing this to an extreme along with posting here and it won't be available or we will be paying a service fee to get cash on our Seapass onboard account to cover the expense of billing your cash advances to your credit card. Currently RC eats this expense to get your business in their casino. I know if I need some cash, I will do this to get it. I do use it as my stake to play Black Jack knowing well that I won't lose it all as I will quit playing if I need the cash and luck isn't with me. Most times my losses are small, I break even or occasionally win a bit of money. Converting a $500 advance into $10,000 might be possible but very rarely happens since anyone playing with this small amount of $ doesn't bet enough to win that amount quickly and over the long run all casino games favor the house. To win a certain amount it is suggested that you start with about one and a half times that amount. Maybe a professional gambler could do this but not us ordinary folks.

Exactly!!!! Someone always has to take advantage of the situation and ruin it for others.

Agreed and it's usually the ones that short change in other areas of cruising too. On the Jewel they were turning guests away that were trying this type of tactic. They knew who was playing in the casino and who wasn't. The above actions by the poster is the reason that Carnival and other cruise lines started charging a 3% charge to get cash in the casino.

Keep in mind that if you have been reading these same boards for a while the word "ethical" is not in some posters dictionary.

I've heard you can used your sign and sail pass to get cash in the casino.

Has anyone here done it? It just gets added to your onboard charges?

Just want to make sure it isn't posted as a cash advance.....those interest

charges will kill you.....

Just don't make it obvious, or they may take that privilege away from us too.. ALL cash is suppose to be spent in the casino.
