Our Cruise on Carnival Miracle sucks

Another one post wonder......I was on the Miracle last week and had a GREAT time...this must have been the "woman" that sat at the smoking blackjack table every night and complained about people smoking there when there was another No smoking table on the other side..My guess is she will never come back to respond......Dennis

We've sailed the Miracle last year and had such a great time, we're doing the same trip again this spring. No complaints, can't wait!!:)

To be honest, I can understand where the OP is coming from. My first Carnival Cruise was on the Elation and it was disappointing. It's terrible to go with such high expectations and not have the experience live up to it. You read the boards and hear all about the great reviews which I'm sure are well deserved and you expect a certain level of service and vacation. On Elation the food was nothing spectacular, i never went hungry but I wouldn't rave about it either, the entertainment was awful and a great diappointment so you make your own fun and the service was OK not outstanding. Of course I will sail Carnival again if it suits my travel needs but I have to say if I were to base Carnival on my Elation experience it would not be a great review and would certainly not recommend it. Oh and it was also a very smokey in the Casino too but I guess if you are allowed to smoke there you cant do much about it.

 

Elation is our fav. But you are probably right because we always make our own entertainment on all our ships. We don't participate in their silly little games and such...but hey that's just us.....

OP sorry you had a bad cruise I don't discount your disappointment........... just ignore the cheer leaders. Good luck on other lines.

OK, about the casino being smoky ~ yes, the casinos on both ships I've been on have been smoky. Ever been to Las Vegas? The casinos are smoky ~ some more than others. The casinos in Reno are smoky too. Casinos are just smoky.

We travel to Vegas at least 4 times a year. They don't even compare to being as smokey as the cruise ship casinos.........

DD & I are highly sensitive to smoke (we're both asthmatic) and the smoke on the Miracle was the LEAST noticeable of any ship I've sailed. Miles better than on Elation.

 

Maybe she was in the same cabin as Alice. You know, the one on deck six that Alice insisted was next to the engine room and that's why it was noisy?

Whatever. Some people have high expectations and when things are not exactly as they expect (note, I didn't say the expecations were reasonable), they feel they've been cheated somehow and have to be angry about it rather than shrug it off, relax and enjoy their vacation.

 

I do value reviews of ALL cruises because I think we need to hear all the opinions. But there is a way to give a review and then there's just attention-seeking rants.

My friends and I have just taken the Miracle to the Southern caribbean and for all 8 of us it was the worst ship we have been on. We asked other cruisers what their feeling was about the ship and it was the same as ours.

Food was nothing special, Entertainment wasn't all that good, and service was ok at best. The casino was very smokey.

We took a private tour on St Lucia and there was a cruise critic on our van and he said the same thing. I am sure he will write something as well about the ship.

We have all been on the Spirit and it was wonderful so I am not beating up on all Carnival ships. However, we have decided not to ever take another Carnival cruise again.

One night they had an entertainer that had appeard on MTV and other shows. He couldn't get anyone to laugh and kept walking around the stage trying to think of something funny. He kept turning his back to the audience. The best night of entertainment was the salute to the

Beatles.

There were very few slots for non smoking and by the 4 day it didn't make any difference.

Our waitress Tanya was good but not as good as others we have had on other ships.

We did have a problem with a noise in our room on day 5. Around 5:30am we could hear what sounded like scraping except it was constant. We couldn't get back to sleep. When we got back from breakfast it had stopped but we went to the Pursers desk to tell them about it. He asked if we had called when it happened and of course we hadn't. He said if it happened again to call while it is happening. The next night the same sound woke me up at 4:15am, so I called. They sent down housekeeping who said "yes you have a noise" and she would report it to the Pursers office. After an hour of the noise, I called the Pursers desk again and they told me it was a technical problem and they would have to send someone later to check on it because it was too early to call anyone. Of course they came in the afternoon after the noise had stopped. So nothing was settled. They did send us some chocolate covered strawberries. However, that did not make up for the lack of sleep. I was very disapointed in how they handled the situation. They did not seem concerned at all. So if you happen to stay on the Riveria Deck on the odd side of the ship, beware. And by the way all our friends heard the noise too. It just didn't wake them up like it did us. :mad:

 

I am sorry you had a bad experience. I went on the Miracle last year with a group of 40+ people, I had a great time, but not all in our group did. It is interesting to hear how VERY different people's experience's on the same ship, and same cruise are. Nobody in our group had a "bad" time, just different opinions on their experience.

 

My feelings are if you have a bad experience on a cruise ship it is your own fault!!! NO Cruise line or ship can screw up so bad that every second of every day is so bad you have to come here and complain.

 

I will be glad to take you place on the Miracle, and have crappy time!!!

Like someone else said...this must be a troll or a really miserable person! There was not one REAL thing other than a noise that the troll could point out for us. No reasons as to why they didn't like other things and well...your in a casino...have they been to vegas or atlantic city? That's some serious casino smoke! So...sorry that you are miserable...maybe Hal is something more your direction!

A troll is someone that comes on any of the boards whether it be carnival or the other boards and bashes something or makes a comment to try and get a rise out of everyone...it usually works and there are a bunch of people that just like to sit back and eat popcorn and laugh at what is going on! Then there are some that take it personally and go a little crazy and write back.

Well there are two ways of looking at that..for one...we can help you get through that on the boards daily lol! I know it's hell trust me I just got back from one two weeks ago and it didn't even feel like we went. The other thing is you can book another one in the meantime...think about it like this...all you have to put down is the $25pp deposit until next year this time basically then you will have to put down the rest....that's perfect...hardly anything up front and the easiest way to secure it for next to nothing! Come join us! It will be so much fun!

The same thing happened to us last year on the Pride in a group of 33 friends, 31 of us had a great time, 2 did not. One because he complained about the kids and the other because he said the ocean was too rough, but both are rather picky, opinionated people that have issues with things in life anyway. Neither is going on our group cruise next year with basically the same people, we'll miss their wives cruising with us because of them.
