ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #26 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Ok where were we...... Day three After fighting the wind on the putt-putt course, DH went for some Sushi and we thought that we would make a small donation to the Casino before catching the Motown show with Mark Anthony. The show was awesome but I love Motown music. Up next....Day Four St. Thomas USVI
ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #27 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Day Four St. Thomas.. We had breakfast and went up on deck to watch the ship sail into port. There were already 2 other ships there: We had to go through immigration before getting off the ship which was a pain. It took about 45 minutes of waiting in line until we were finally cleared and able to get off. We had a tour with Godfrey's tour company (which I highly recommend!!) Godfrey was great..I just can't say enough good things about him. He was 30 mins early to pick us up and not everyone that had booked the tour had gotten off of the ship yet but rather than make us wait he took us downtown and dropped us off for some shopping and told us he would be back to pick us up. ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #28 Share Posted May 19, 2008 After some shopping Godfrey took us up to Mountain Top for some great pics and also a wonderful Banana Daiquri. We made a couple of stops along the way for some good photo ops, and for Godfrey to tell us about the island: Godfrey: No way I would stand on that ledge!!! He is making me nervous We then continued up to Mountain Top: Picture overlooking Megan's Bay: Did I mention how delicious these were?
teacher32 Posted May 19, 2008 #29 Share Posted May 19, 2008 :) What a cute couple you two make!! Love your review. The addition of all the wonderful pictures make it seem more like a travel brochure! Awesome! We are on the Glory in early September. Can't wait! We just got back from St. Thomas a few weeks ago. Beautiful place!
ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #30 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Leaving Mountain Top we rode by Mahogany Run Golf Course. Godfrey told us that the green's fees to play at this course is $140 for visitors. Not a very good picture: We were then given the choice to spend 2 hrs at either Coki Beach, Megan's Bay, or Sapphire Beach. We chose Sapphire Beach since we heard that it would be the least crowded, and I had already been to the other two beaches before: Sapphire Beach:

ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #33 Share Posted May 19, 2008 After 2 hours at the beach Godfrey returned to pick us up and deliver us back to the ship. We walked around town to pick up some souvenirs and headed back to the ship to take some more pictures of the port: I loved seeing the island all lit up as you sail away.... That night we had another towel buddy to keep us company Next Day Five St. Maarten.........
ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #34 Share Posted May 19, 2008 The next morning we sailed into St. Maarten. This was my favorite port!! We went up on deck for some pictures before making our way off the ship: I wish I owned the house on top of the hill:) We walked down the dock and made our way to the taxi stand:
TakeMeAway1001 Posted May 19, 2008 #35 Share Posted May 19, 2008 This is a great review!!!! We used Godfrey when we went to St Thomas, it was by far one of the best excursions we have been on. The driving was nuts going to the top, the way they whip around the corners and honk the horns. It was like a thrill ride at an amusement park, lol. Well you have me hooked, I will be back to check for more later. Again thanks for taking the time to write a review :) To those that posted a thank you to DH, I appreciate the kind words. Take care :)
ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #36 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Orient Beach here we come.....It costs us $14 (for both) for the taxi ride to Orient Beach since there was another couple that rode in the taxi with us. The taxi driver was very informative and told us about the island being half Dutch and half French and the reasons for this. We were let out at Bikini Beach which seemed to be in the center of Orient Bay. We then walked onto the most beautiful beach we have ever seen and will absolutely be going back there for sure!! The sand was so soft and powdery, and the water so clear! I pretty much had to pry my husband from the lounge chair and drag him back to the taxi because he did not want to leave...lol Bikini Beach\Orient Beach: Remember pictures do no justice We found a little place on the beach that rented 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella for $18 (which I found out later talking to others.. this was too expensive) Beautiful water:
ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #37 Share Posted May 19, 2008 The only problem we had at Orient Beach was that every 5 minutes there were people walking up and down the beach wanting you to buy necklaces, or bracelets, or towels from them....and they seemed to get mad if you said no thank you...but I didn't care...I was on vacation and did not want to be harassed! There is a funny story behind this next pic. I had read on the cruise critic boards somewhere about taking pictures of just your feet on the beach. While I was taking this one, a man walked by and asked if I had told them to smile.....ha ha ha that was so funny....guess you had to be there After getting way too much sun and ready for some food we took a taxi back to the ship. This time it was $18 since no one rode with us. We had lunch on the ship, took showers to get the sand off and headed back down the dock to take the water taxi over to town for some shopping. Not much shopping to do unless you are in the market for some jewelry or some licquor. When we got back to the ship after shopping and went to our cabin my husband had a surprise there waiting for me for our 1 year anniversary: We went to the Red Sail and had dinner and then stayed out on deck for the Deck Party. The deck party was alot of fun. Everyone seemed to be having a good time dancing: Funship Freddy was there too: That night we had a new little towel buddy waiting on us: Next up is Day 6 the second Fun Day at Sea..... ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #40 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Oh...I forgot we also went to see a magic show...Justin Illusion...this was pretty cool...He is a pretty talented guy with this sort of thing. Day 6 Fun Day at Sea: We did not do too much this day but went out to the Lido deck to work on our tan's and we also tryed our luck at the $1000 Bingo jackpot which we did not even come close to winning. This was also our second formal night, and the past guest reception and you know what that means....yep, free drinks!! So we got ready, had more pictures taken...dang those photographers for making them so good that you want to buy them all. At the past guest party with my 4th blue margarita...he he: My handsome husband: Our next new friend: And I think this was the night of the Gala Buffet, but it was a mad house and the lines were so long to take pictures of the food that the one's that I took from the top of the dining room didn't turn out very good:
Rockee4055 Posted May 19, 2008 #41 Share Posted May 19, 2008 What a great job with the review!!! I am reliving my Glory cruise from April. St. Thomas and St Maartin were by far my favorites. I remember being in St Maartin and sitting on a stool drinking a beer. I looked across the street and there was an elementary school staring me in the face. I felt so ashamed of what i was doing..... Oh, and BTW, you two do make a great couple...what great smiles you guys have. We have 544 pictures of our Glory cruise. Anyone want to see them all? LOL JK. Looking forward to the last part. Glad you enjoyed it. When's your next one, are you booked yet? Thanks for the pictures.
ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #42 Share Posted May 19, 2008 On the last 2 days the seas seemed to be really rough. The ship swayed back and forth pretty bad and you could see people walking side ways down the halls--including me, and that was before the blue margaritas:D . I also have to give major props to the Glory Dancers, it still amazes me at how they can get up on stage and dance with the ship moving back and forth so much...they were great!! I talked to several people who had actually gotten seasick on these days, and our cabin creaked and vibrated even though the captain said there 10 ft swells. My last cruise on the Carnival Imagination, you could not even tell you were moving but on this ship.....you could most definitely tell!! I never got sick but I was taking Bonine twice a day. My DH only took Bonine on the first day and was fine for the rest of the cruise....he still says that it is all in your head....and if you think about it too much you will make yourself sick. I also have to say that Ami Castro, the main singer on the Glory did a fantastic job....she is really talented and I am sure that Carnival is not paying her what she is worth. The other guy that was singing with her in the Rock down Broadway show was terrible. They could have proboably found someone out in the audience that could sing better than he could. The shows were good especially Justin Illusion and the Legends show on the last night. During this show guests dress up as different musicians and sing and dance on stage. We had James Brown, Elton John, Gloria Estefan, Britney Spears, Madonna, Ricky Martin, Aretha Frankin, Elvis of course, and Frank Sinatra who brought down the house. The cruise directory Mark Price came out dressed as Dolly Parton and danced to 9 to 5 which was hilarious. He did a really good job all week. Up next I will post some various picture I took throughout the ship.
Froufie Posted May 19, 2008 #43 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Great review and I can't wait to see more pics of the ship! Just wondering why you were eating dinner in the Red Sail most evenings? Did you not enjoy the dining room food/service? To me that is an important part of the 'cruise experience' - try to avoid the buffets if possible! Cruise, J.D. Posted May 19, 2008 #44 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Thanks so much for your review and the pictures. It looks like ya'll had a wonderful time. You are confirming that this is the ship and itinerary for my family in 2009.

ocho514 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #48 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Great review and I can't wait to see more pics of the ship! Just wondering why you were eating dinner in the Red Sail most evenings? Did you not enjoy the dining room food/service? To me that is an important part of the 'cruise experience' - try to avoid the buffets if possible! No the dining room staff was fabulous....they brought Dh extra lobster tails and he didn't even have to ask..they even brought us more than one appetizer without asking...saying that we need to try them all. We would have proboably eaten in the dining room more if: 1) Dh would have brought some dress pants other than the ones with his suit, or some bluejeans that did not have holes in the front.....he likes that kind. 2) We were usually starving by 6:00pm and we had late seating at 8:15. But yes the food in the dining room was a lot better than the buffet.
bolivar5599 Posted May 19, 2008 #49 Share Posted May 19, 2008 You have done a great job!!! This is a very detailed and visual set of posts. You obviously will be back to Carnival so we look forward to hearing from you in the future. I am so glad you had fun! That is what we do this for right??? Sure don't do it for the tan - can get that at the gym!!!! ;)
