A good remedy for a bit of a queasy feeling is Ginger Ale with fresh orange slices and fresh mint. I usually keep orange slices and mint in my fridge ~~ works wonders! Also watermelon ~~

I'm anxious to hear as to Captain Hamish's "Welcome Reception" tonight ~~I met him Oct.-07 when he was Pride Staff Captain and we enjoyed him then ~~I know he'll get into the "swing of things" quickly!

Good Luck today playing Trivia ~~

My tummy is feeling a bit better, but thanks for the tip Martita. Your remedy sound much better than Jaegermeister! Yuck!!

Our trivia team name is The Internationals. We got many questions right, but failed miserably at the bonus question. (Tina Turners birth name) So...another team won the bookmarks!

I ran into Ray and Christine finally. They had trouble getting on the ship after delayed flights into Barbados.

There is a BlackJack tournament this afternoon. Should be fun. I think a nice nap is in my future!

Nick Hales show is tonight, as well as the (new) Captains Welcome Party. Lots to do on Sea Days!

I'll try to post more later..

'Till then..

Dan,

Enjoy the second half of your vacation - the sea days interspersed with great ports (like St. Barths) are great. Your reports and humor make me laugh.

There's another rowdy bunch boarding on Saturday - we're counting on you to (gently) break in the new captain and crew.:D

A bit of an update, good and bad. First the good... Tried Campari and Soda, and really liked it, as well as it liked my stomache! :D Second, had a nice nap, although interuppted continuaously by next door "slammers". SLAM..SLAM..SLAM.. In and out, in and out, what the heck are they doing?

The "bad".. Went to have a steam at the Spa, and one of the spa girls continuously came in. Once for supplies, once to use the restroom, once to who knows what. I can't understand why these spa girls have to store their supplies in the gentlemans changing room, and use the mens restroom. Absolutely no privacy, not even a warning she is coming in. I'm open minded, but modest as well. I'm sure if Pamela Conover was sailing and enjoying the sauna/steam and a male staff member continuosly came in without warning, heads would roll.  Definately an irritant.

Anyway, Carol the Shore Excursion rep helped me with the printer in the computer room. I mean she dropped everything to help me. Now SHE is a class act!

Johnny, will do my best to beak in the new Captain and staff! :D I also appreciate your comment regarding my mom. She told me to enjoy my cruise and will fill me in when I get back. I'm sure she will pull through!

If Bronson was on Room Service duty when I last sailed, I would have never gone to the Dining Room. He's such a nice young man and was (and I hope still is) engaged to Loretta, 'my' stewardess. Please give them my Best Regards.

Getting ready to see Nick Hale's show tonight. Jane, he had so many nice things to say about you!

Tonights dinner was fantastic. Had the Chateubriand. (sp?) I also ordered the Halibut, but unfortunately it was very dry. The chef came out to speak with everuone in the restaurant, but missed our table. (I'll bet on purpose!) :D

Off to the show, goodnight all!!

Hi Dan,

I almost had the opposite on my last cruise. I asked the staff at the desk to warm up the steam room while I was working out. When I was ready, she started walking me back to the men's locker room steam room. Good thing I knew there was one in the lady's room, or we all could have been in for a surprise when one of the men entered!

Hi CeeJay,

The new Captain is Hamish Elliott. This is his FIRST cruise ever as the Captain! He is very excited. Another terrific officer is the Hotel manager, Laurent Lalouer. Very nice and ALL the women (and some of the men) are in love with him! :D

Leslie,

I'll try the spa later and if she walks in again, I might openly ask her if she wasn't aware of the womens area!

Last night Nick Hale did his big variety show. He has such a beautiful voice, and powerful as well. He sang a variety of genres, from ballads to the Beatles. He also did a tribute melody to Cliff Richard (A British pop star / icon) who is traveling with us this week.

The casino was very very good to me last night! I played blackjack for 2 hours and STILL came ahead quite a bit! Still down as far as the total number for the cruise, but the margin is narrowing.

The internet will be down for 2 hours this afternoon for an upgrade. I'll post when the service is turned back on. Have a happy Monday everyone!

DAN!

You're talking about THE "Sir" Cliff Richard here!

A real icon here in Holland!

The first movie I ever went to with my sister and parents was "Summer Holiday" with Cliff starring! I love his songs; he still is very popular in Holland. I really envy you now!

I hope he will sing for you one night. I have a lot of his songs on my iPod.

"Miss you nights" and "The day I met Marie" are among my favorites!

But I think I like all his songs! I know he never was very popular in the US, but here in Holland.......... During Wimbledon (you know the tennis.....) he sometimes just sang while there was a rain break!

Cliff sailed on the Legend before, also on one of his birth days!

Hi Dan, Glad to hear your mom is out of the hospital. Hope she continues to recover quickly.

I sat next to you at dinner with Laurent, the second night of the cruise. I've never posted on the Seaborne blog but have been lurking for a while. This was our first cruise with Seaborne but it will not be our last. I agree with you about Seaborne - they and their staff are wonderful.

Lucca asked me how he could make our cruise more enjoyable and I told him I loved their risotto and could eat it every night. So the next time we dined in the restaurant, the waiter, Thomas, said they had a special order for me - it was an order of delicious risotto!

A different night, Laurent jumped in to arrange cleaning when we were on deck 7 listening to the music and a cruiser dropped a drink on my husband from deck 8 - fortunately it missed his head but his shirt and slacks were soaked. The cruiser was quite rude but Laurent was the epitome of class! (FYI - the cruiser's wife apologised and offered to pay for the cleaning which we took her up on - Seaborne wasn't responsible, her husband was. When my DH asked the wife what was going on with her husband, she responded with a shrug and "He's Irish". We're not sure what that meant but were glad to have the issue resolved.)

But I thought the most impressive display of Seaborne's dedication to service was when a diner said she had forgotten her glasses and needed help reading the menu. Thomas brought over a beautiful case and opened it to reveal a selection of reading glasses!!! From now on, I'll leave my glasses behind and borrow theirs..

Our cruise ended Saturday and we came back to reality quickly. Our flight to Miami was 90 minutes late and between that and waiting for our second suitcase, we missed our connection and had to spend the night (or what was left of it) in Miami and head home in the wee hours on Sunday. I just found out the second suitcase was misdirected to JFK and is coming home JFK-MIA-DFW-PHX. Interesting routing but at least it happened on the way home, not on the way to the cruise.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the cruise and that your mom's recovery is smooth.

Joy

Hi Dan!

I'm enjoying reading your thread, as always!

I'm in the middle of a "surprise" cruise (one I hadn't really planned...for long, anyway). I sailed with my travel agent last week on the HAL Noordam, disembarking in Aruba yesterday; Tuesday we pick up the Crystal Serenity to return to Miami in 7 days. Neither of us have been on Crystal before (it's a "familiarization" partial cruise for TA's)....

I'm delighted to hear news of the crew & staff. Please continue! Please give my best wishes to Nelson, and to (SantaAna) Jane, as well, if you see her....

Happy sailing, and wonderful memories to you, and yours, and thanks again for taking us with you!

Paul ;)

To the Pride-ful cruisers. I just learned that my favorite guest entertainer, the magician Mandy Muden is currently on the Legend and will join the Pride (I assume in FLL) and then depart for London on Christmas Eve. I know those who haven't seen her show will enjoy it and those who have will look forward to seeing it again. It's never quite the same.

Mandy is fun and definitely a Seabourn favorite! :D

Are Host Dan and Santa Ana Jane on the same cruise or is one on the Pride and the other on the Legend?

Glad to hear the Cass' are cruising again - I wonder if they are in Suite 100??

Matt

Santa Ana (Cal) is aboard the Legend now in Central America.

Mr & Mrs Cass are the most loving and gracious couple ~~I believe they have the most days on Seabourn ~~ David E. actually has THE most days as he's been aboard since day one!

Matt, we'll miss seeing you this cruise ~~~have a great Christmas!:p

Hey everyone!

Posting from gorgeous St Barts! You should see the yachts, although "our" yacht is the prettiest in the harbor (well at least close by)! We sail away at 11PM.

We are dining with the gorgeous Dell, the boutique managers table tonight. We are also being joined by our friends. We (our 2 friends and ourselves) had ordered a special sushi / sahimi dinner for the 4 of us tonight, but Luca assured us everything will work out at the large table with other guests. I just hope I don't sit with someone who sees our special order and says " I want THAT!!" LOL :D We will see.

Rock the boat again tonight, with special guests "The Platters". I saw them once on Radisson Diamond, and although the singing performance was excellent, the "off color" jokes were so severe, I walked out. Hopefully the lead singer has mellowed out in the past few years.

The intenet upgrade is GREAT!! Faster, more responsive and spot on!

Joy, I'm glad your first Seabourn cruise was terrific, and that you will be booking another. I hadn't heard about the "drink fiasco" but thanks for posting!

I did hear of a few other "incidents" last week, but nothing too serious!

Off to the Club, and another Seabourn evening.

Have a great night all!! :)
