Crewzer33 Posted July 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2009 My family is booked on the Crown. We have a balcony and an inside cabin. We are non smokers. Does the smell of smoke from previous inhabitants of cabins remain or does the crew fumigate the rooms between cruises?

Does the smell of smoke from previous inhabitants of cabins remain or does the crew fumigate the rooms between cruises? I have never smelled lingering smoke in any cabin on Princess; Crown or otherwise. And I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke odor.
kywildcatfanone Posted July 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2009 No, not that I have noticed and we are fairly sensitive. I've read a previous post that talks about the cleaning they do after smokers have been in cabins. I expect it's pretty thorough. Mike
Colo Cruiser Posted July 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2009 They are excellent at disinfecting odors from the cabins. ;)
Paka Posted July 10, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2009 One time I noticed a smoke smell in our closet, and told our steward, who came immediately and cleaned the closet....and the smell was gone! So if you do notice it, they will get rid of it promptly. They are very clean on their ships.
Rare TracieABD Posted July 10, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2009 I was on the Crown last summer, and there was no smell of smoke in our stateroom (Lido Deck). As a matter of recollection, I only smelled smoke in the casino and a bit on the outside Lido deck. Otherwise, it all seemed to be pretty smoke free.:)

jennifers490 Posted July 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 10, 2009 I had that happen once in 28 princess cruises, i told the desk and they had someone clean the cabin and the smell was gone--i wish people wouldn't smoke in the cabins with no balconies :(
YWW Posted July 10, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 10, 2009 Can I assume based on the postings here that there's no such thing as "non-smoking" cabins?

rcacace Posted July 10, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 10, 2009 Can I assume based on the postings here that there's no such thing as "non-smoking" cabins? If they're were they would be the first to sell out years in advance. Even the smokers would like a fresh smelling cabin.

I have LOVED the CC Boards!:) Tracie, let us know how you loved the Golden, she is one of our most favorite ships. We'll be on her on September 5th.....I know exactly how you feel. Anticipation is definitely part of the cruise experience. Please let us know how you liked all the revamping that was done. Have a wonderful and fun cruise experience............ wizard-of-roz Posted July 10, 2009 #17 Share Posted July 10, 2009 On our last cruise onboard the Sapphire and, for the very first time.......the Wheelhouse Bar was always filled with cigarette smoke and smokers.....We had to find another lounge to sit in because the circulation is so poor in this lounge that it could not eleviate the smoke. There are sections for the smokers in the lounge but the smoke and smell permiated the entire room. There should definitely be a "smoking lounge" just for those who chose to smoke. Celebrity Summit has one, as does a few other ships. It's a good idea and keeps the smoke contained. Allowing everyone to enjoy the various venues onboard the ship. Smokers have the right to enjoy their cigarettes and should have a special place to do so!!!!!
Caribensun Posted July 11, 2009 #18 Share Posted July 11, 2009 First time we had a problem, first night. I am sensitive to smoke, however DH noticed it this time around 2am. Lots of cigarette smoke filled the room. I went out on deck and slept most of the night. Complaied to PD, did not seem to really care, filled out a comment card. Our cabin steward said it was coming in through the vents 5 doors down from us side. Many people were complaining and he was not happy about cleaning the room. We were in a mini on Dolphin deck. We noticed all of the bars execpt Club Fusion had tons of smoke, sky walkers smelled of every kind of smoke even from just over half way to it, we could not even get close to go, this was 11:30pm. People who have been on Celebrity told us about Celebrity and how much nicer it is for no smoke, they will be going back and we will too after our next cruise. RCL does not allow smoking in rooms anymore.

Princess Travel Tips says...Smoking is not allowed in the dining rooms, or any other food service area, or in the show lounges and theaters. Smoking is permitted in staterooms, stateroom balconies, and designated areas. As a courtesy to your fellow passengers, please refrain from smoking pipes and cigars in all public rooms. So I don't know. Unless they have "designated areas" in every single lounge on board.
