SantaAna,CA Posted August 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Hi, all. I like strapless suits (because I don't like tan lines), but I am an older woman with thighs that need a bit of, shall we say, disguise. ;) I love the swimsuits with skirts (one piece), but they usually have straps that cannot be undone while sunning. Anyone have a lead on any swimsuit catalogs that might have what I'm looking for? Thanks so much. Jane
cb at sea Posted August 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Can't help with finding a strapless suit, but why not just pull the straps down? I do that all the time! Or, if you're handy with a needle, make the straps "removable"---they have the clasps in most sewing stores--it wouldn't be too hard to do, depending on how the top is made. Beanie01 Posted August 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Have you tried Spiegel.com? I don't know if they have strapless, but they have their ShapeFx brand, and have nice skirted suits. I bought 4 bathing suits from them this season, and kept them all!
dustyroad Posted August 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2009 unless the top would tumble down past the girls, i would just tuck the straps into the suit. takes care of the problem of the tan and you can reuse them as needed.
Iluvmypuggle Posted August 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2009 Here are some of the websites that I go to when shopping for a swimsuit. Lands End Lord & Taylor Newport News Target I didn't check if they had the suit you're looking for but those website usually have a decent selection. Lands End & Target are where I usually find what I"m looking for. Goodluck!

SantaAna,CA Posted August 22, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted August 22, 2009 Thanks to everyone, really great suggestions. I found one at swimsuitsforall.com that I just love (received it today). Removable straps and the little skirt are perfect. I have a good 20 pounds on this model, and it's still flattering! Now that's amazing. It also comes in aqua, pink and black, but I liked the print. If you click on the thumbnail, a larger picture opens. Best wishes!

MagnoliaBlossom Posted August 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2009 at 56 I still love strapless suits, been wearing them since my20's. Several years ago I found a fabulous suit with matching pull on pants (full length). It always got rave reviews when I wore it - and who doesn't love it when people stop you and say, "wow, I love that outfit' ? It was made by Janzen and I've never found another like it. :( but my fall back has been to buy a black bandeau suite and black sheer pants. Several companies make the pool pants (or whatever they're called). They are sheer so they're cool and because they're black, they match any black suit. Makes for a great look - super for sea days. Of course, if I stumble upon one of those matching print combos I'll be one happy camper.

Without straps, I'd have to have a suit with hydraulic lifts built in. Otherwise, my girls would be rolling in the scuppers. Shiver me timbers.... Liv4cruzin Posted August 25, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I don't see you make mention of what size you are looking for; but almost all of my skirted suits (swimdresses) have removable straps. I've ordered mine from Roamans, Woman Within & Silhouettes. Plus sizes but I think they start at size 12?
SantaAna,CA Posted August 26, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Exactly right, a size 12. And I could lose a few pounds to look better in it! Thank you for the leads, I'll check them out. Do try swimsuitsforall.com...everyone...they have just about everything under the sun! Jane
angelndscz Posted February 6, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 6, 2012 I can not rave enough about this store callled "Everything But Water." They have an online shop and great return policy. I bought my Bikini here from the mall in Tampa and LOVE it! I am not a bikini wearing girl. Funny, I have never wore my bikini in public yet... I will wear it on the cruise because people there do not know me. I sitll have a hard time wearing it in front of my son's little league parents! LOL. I'm a 34DD and their tops, at least the wired tops, can be worn comfortably as bras.

Host Faith Posted March 30, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 30, 2012 I purchased this swim dress from JCPenney and LOVE it! I have a few photos of the red one in my Liberty of the Seas review in my signature (I wore it in Cozumel). One of the best swimsuits I've ever had. Wore it strapless all the time. Plenty of support in the top, and great coverage for hips and thighs. I think it would look great on anyone, any age or any size. :) In blue/green In red

Might not be great for a large bust, however.

I try to avoid black too unless the design of the suit is so cute and unique that I have to have it.
