mogli Posted August 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Can anyone tell me if it is possible to walk to the Downtown area in Ohau from the Cruise terminals and if so how long would it roughly take to walk
CruiserBruce Posted August 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2015 From the true downtown (not Waikiki, that is not true downtown) it is probably less than 2 miles. Very walkable if you don't have mobility issues.

Astro Flyer Posted August 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2015 what about to the start of the Hotels ie the Hawaii Prince Hotel - just trying to get an idea as to how far away the Pier is to the Waikiki area Google Maps is a great source to find info between 2 places by car, bus or walking and it shows it's 2.4 miles & a 47 minute walk between the Hawaii Prince & Aloha Tower cruise terminal and if arriving at the other cruise port I believe the distance is less. cccole Posted August 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2015 As others have said Waikiki and downtown Honolulu are very different areas. If you destination is Waikiki I would suggest a taxi or the bus. The Hawaii Prince Hotel is sort of at the beginning of the Waikiki hotels but is at the marina and Ala Moana Beach Park. There are some really good maps on-line to google that will give you an idea of where things are. "This Week Oahu" has some good maps and you can access it on line, click on "digital magazine" and you can access all kinds of info on Oahu including maps. "This Week" is available for all islands and also includes coupons for some attractions and restaurants. Cherie

Rare Keith1010 Posted August 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Just wanted to add that if you like to walk, we have done this each time we are docked at this port. It will be around 45 minutes in each direction and you just walk on city sidewalks. Keith

According to Waikiki Bus website, no suitcase is allowed on the bus.

Sorry, I thought they were just doing something while their ship was in port. Yes, the bus would not be an option with suitcases. Cherie
mogli Posted August 4, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted August 4, 2015 yes we are hoping to get about on our own rather than going on organised excursions whilst in Ports though may book Pearl Harbour via an excursion to be guaranteed getting a ticket etc. Most people say to do on own but never having been to Hawaii etc and really not wanting to miss out think this would be best We prefer to research and sightsee on our own normally.
