Does anyone know how many points on a cruise may qualify one for a reduced fare (or comped) cruise? Also how they notify you if you may have one?

This was my first NCL cruise so I was not sure. Thanks for any information.

I'm not sure if it directly ties to points or some other variables, and it will sometimes depend upon the specific cruise you are looking to take. While CAS will sometimes send mailings for specific cruises/events, it's best to just call them when you are thinking about booking and asking what they can offer you.

Seems when I hit HOT level, (which is 5,000 points) I started receiving comp offers (for 2, interior) thru CAS. Identical to what I get from Harr/CET.

Since I became Golden over Thanksgiving trip, will be interesting to see if offers become better? LIke Oceanview or Balcony, instead of Interior.

When in doubt, you can call.

Or wait like I do. They eventually show up.:p

Mailed offers are usually just for specific cruises or special events (tournaments, etc.). If you qualify for these, you probably qualify for a free cruise on any sailing...no need to wait for a mailing, just pick the cruise you want and call them for reservation.

HI you will not see a huge difference between Hot/Golden because they base your comp on your last sailing not your tier level. For example if you take 3 cruises during the tier period

Cruise 1 - accumulated 3000 points - you will be offered inside/Oceanview

Cruise 2 - accumulated 10,000 points - you will be offered Mini/maybe full suite

Cruise 3 - accumulated 2000 points - you will be offered 20% discount (inside cabin comps need 2800 points).

It is always best to book a cruise anytime after Wednesday after getting off a ship (the points are fully updated from the ship to CAS by then) then to wait until after another sailing as your points may not be as high on the 2nd sailing so it's best to book them as you get them.

Hope that helps.

After my last one, I don't even think this example is always true....just got back from the Jewel...11,000 points, only offered an OV because we had 4 winners over 1200 with tax forms....something about playing with their money....email sent to management...only logged 13 hours of machine play....11,000 points in 13 hours on video poker....not likely.....

Quick update, heard back from casino management today, sounds like I called in too quickly. Based on the email I received today, my next offer should be in line with my 11,000 points. Will keep you posted.

Yes they are usually fully updated by Wednesday after sailing. I always get my point count the last night of a cruise and then double check with CAS on Wednesday after.

Let us know what 11,000 gets you.

The said my theo was like 5,800 so only balcony this time. I have been all over the map....last trip was 7,500 points but they had my actual loss at quite a bit more than the 5,800 which got me the suite....this time, 4 tax forms, so my "actual" loss was less....seems like if you get tax forms, you probably won't get as much on the next one. :) Good to know, next time, I'll pocket those wins.....

Do you guys know how all the points work for table games?

I am in club royale with royal Caribbean but thinking about jumping ship.

I am diamond at harrahs/total rewards.

I play strictly roulette

on my 7 day cruise in September I played 23 hours at $170 per hand

on my 7 day cruise last week I played 41 hours at $163 per hand in roulette

any idea how this equates to ncl points?

Hard to tell. On slots NCL uses same as Harrah's - $5- in = 1 tier point. Table games vary a lot. Depends on time played, $$of bets- just like Harrah's at tables. NCL counts hours played a lot, and that is so variable depending on the pit boss. Sometimes they mark your buy ins (sometimes not), Sometimes they get your time at the table correct- most times not. Best bet is make friends with pit boss-and make sure they notice you- and hope for the best. They will also count winnings against you. Our problem is bet big or go home! So sometimes our $$ a lot, but time very low. Not great for future cruises from CAS - we always need to have supervisor review play(not just bet/time spent) We just go and have fun- up to our 14th cruise

Safe sailing

I can't offer anything on table other than I what I have read here about them not being consistent.

I've just reached Golden for the year, but I doubt I'll get anything from them. I was told by a CAS phone representative that it's based on Actual or Theo loss. He said to qualify for Inside your loss needs to be 2000 to 2900 on your last cruise. For Oceanview it's a loss of 2900 to 3500. For Balcony it's over 3500. We just got home from a cruise where I earned over 6000 points, but had a hand pay of $1600 and several other wins of $500 to 1000. (All on video poker). Good thing I get my CET (Harrah's) balcony cruises:cool:

While its never very clear for table players (and I don't really play roulette...it could depend on the type/size of your bets), with 3-4 hours/day of $150+ avg. bet, I would expect to receive at least a comped balcony or minisuite (note "comped" means you pay around $350 per person in taxes and fees, plus gratuities, etc)...and also probably some amount of cash credits against onboard purchases at the end of the cruise.

I have been Lucky until my last CTN a few weeks ago and leveled up to Hot and always received at least a balcony comp. Not sure how it works

it's lousy that they take away from you if you win. they don't do that at the land based one i play at. also, i never knew to check the wed. after i got back if i got a lot of points. the last cruise not very lucky but got quite a few points. i thought it added up over the year, so my 5 cruises this year would move me up in comp categories. i'm going to call this week. last comp cruise was xmas week. i wanted to see what they'd do for me for back to back over ny. they said 20% off inside. i said forget it, since that week was pretty expensive.

The problem is you accumulated those points over 5 cruises, CAS wants people that accumulate that amount of points in 1 cruise.

So true! I now have Golden status for their club year, but I a cruising 4 or 5 times a year so those points are spread out. If I had made those points in one or two cruises they might comp me a great cabin. I just play for fun on board, not at the rate I play in Las Vegas.

I have no idea what to think. We started with free cruises from Harrahs with insides that we upgraded from. Now we asked in the casino if we can book straight through with CAS.. Now this particular host was rude, she was stating they will let Harrahs know how good our play was.. Huh? What? I never met a casino who did not want your business.

So we started thinking maybe we should not be gambling if NCL does not care and we know Harrahs could give a *** how much we give NCL. But we decided to see another host.. She explained how NCL does not want to take customer loyalty away from a land based casino, with a few wink winks. Almost like they were lectured of late. She gave us directions to just call the number on the back and they would be happy to help us. So that host took 250 off the bill at the end, and gave us directions to call.

So after that cruise I got 6800 points we called and asked. We wanted Breakaway to Bermuda for June. So new ship, prime season. If it had been breakaway to the bahamas or a cheaper cruise a higher category. If a more expensive cruise we would be lowered to a free ocean view. Example Alaska.

I think you must have to hit over 3000 points to get free cruises. We don't wait for mailers we just call. Even though we have a Harrahs free cruise it is always inside and they do restrict at times what ship, what itinerary.. I would much rather do my business with NCL directly..

We are more then happy with NCL, but wondering if other lines are more or less generous with comps?

The bonus tier up points are basically points for downloading slot play or to take money off of your bill at the end of the cruise. You receive $50 for hot tier, $100 for Golden tier.

Ok now with that said, if you tier up mid cruise the do NOT waive the 3% fees until your next cruise but you will receive your upgraded drink card instantly. All other Golden perks kick in on your following cruise.
