Port or Starboard for Alaska

No real issue. You are not locked in your cabin, you are roaming the ship. The scenery in Alaska is all around you, and is "big picture" scenery...it doesn't require one special place to be to see the scenery.

Lots of info (where this topic is discussed regularly) on the Alaska board, here:

I like port side for the views of the port..... I like starboard on lower decks (oceanviews) for privacy.
Interesting. On our recent 14-day closed loop HAL cruise we had a starboard cabin and had a view of the pier all but two times.

We were on Carnival Legend last year, and were starboard . We docked port side three times, but it made no difference. We didn't stay on the ship to see a port, but cruised to see what was outside the ports. We spent the majority of the time in the front of the ship when we were in motion, but Alaska is so beautiful either port or starboard it doesn't matter what side you are booked on to sleep. Trust me, you wont be in your cabin , you will want to see it all!

Have a great cruise! Alaska was our best cruise!
