capriccio Posted March 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Thank you for posting this. I've shared it with our roll call for our December Valparaiso to Rio cruise. More money for excursions :p. It will be interesting to see how long it takes Princess to notify us that payment of the fee is no longer a requirement.

dr__dawggy Posted March 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) This in the wake of Presidents Obama and Macri's discussions on improved relationships between the US and Argentina. Most see this measure as a first step toward readmission of Argentina to the US Visa Waiver program, a move that would make temporary suspension of the reciprocity fee permanent. Watch for other travel-related changes as part of the initiative by President Macri to reengage the United States as an active trading partner after a lengthy period under the past two presidents when Argentina aligned itself with leftist governments in the region such as Venezuela and Bolivia, and frequently blamed the US for its problems. dr__dawggy Posted March 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Another possible change: More direct flights to Argentina from the US as a result of increased commerce between the two countries. More competition may well result in lower airfares as well as easier connections.

If not, an extension probably won't happen. Stay tuned those of you who are cruising next year.
