First timer going abroad - Caribbean Currency

Hi all,

Off on my 2 week cruise on the 27th Novemeber with P&O.

Quite a big event for me, never flown, never left British shores so it's all new to me.

The islands I will be visiting are:-

Barbados, Aruba, Grand Caymen, Ocho Rios, Amber Cove, Tortola, St Maartin, St Luciaand Grenada.

What currency should I change to before I go for these islands?

Just take US $ - they are accepted everywhere in Caribbean. Take small denomination notes as you sometime get change in local currency.

Yes, USD are the best currency in the Caribbean. We also have CCs which make no charges for foreign transactions. Have a look at the Halifax Clarity card.

Dollars for dutch side of st maarten, euros or dollars for the french bit!.

And even more importantly...

You are in for a fantastic time. I'd recommend the Stingray swim in Grand Cayman and water jet skiing in St Maartens Bay. The Dolphin swim in Tortola is a must do too

You won't need any money ( At least that's what I tell the better half ). US Dollars all the way, but try not to get too much change, or you will bring home lots of momento's.

Dollars for dutch side of st maarten, euros or dollars for the french bit!.

We used US dollars for French section, no problem
