That is way too much money. I would probable strangle my hubby if he did that. That's a whole other cruise fare for me!

Only you know her best, but if you're getting that uneasy felling, then you're probably right. Trust you gut instinct and decline. That $450 could buy a lot of other nicer things.

For me it would depend on the ship and the length of the cruise. We are currently booked on the Breeze and if we were offered that, we would take it in a heartbeat. A four day cruise probably not. 6,7, 8 day definitely!

That's a LOT of money. I agree to make them a counter offer if you're interested.

Just how much time do you spend in your cabin? Worth the extra $450? Now, if I was the wife you were surprising, I would much more appreciate a spa treatment and dinner in the steak house a couple of times....

just got a similar call. Grand suite upgrade from an aft balcony - 7 day cruise. they asked for an additional $780. Or an Ocean suite for an additional $360.

I didnt take either. Difference on the ocean suite isnt really a "deal". If the grand suite upgrade was the price of the ocean suite - then yes. i also asked for less on the grand suite upgrade or an OBC instead, both were declined.

Are these upsell calls just made randomly? I ask because my wife and I are cruising on the Freedom leaving Monday. We used a pvp for the first time with this cruise, and I was curious if we would receive these calls, with the boat not quite full yet.

I didnt use a PVP, and got a call. Never got one before. the lady i spoke to said that my sailing was selling pretty good, thats why the discounts were not as generious. Doesn't hurt to call your PVP and ask about any upgrades.

They sold the Grand Suite so problem solved, I inquired about any other suites available and he said that was the last one. To the best of my knowledge they are random.. Been cruising Carnival since 2001 and today was the 1st one I got. We also are sailing on Monday...

I would take that deal! 8 nights for $300 is just $37.50 more per night. Not only will you have a balcony to enjoy but the cabin location is closer to most everything. I would take it in a heartbeat! IMO

My GF and I are trying to save some money so we booked an inside for our Dream Cruise Aug 31. I received my first ever upsell call. We could go to a balcony for $299. I countered $200 and was told no. The next day I called my PVP to see how much more it would be to move to a cove balcony (love them). She said it would be a total $140 if I picked my room or if I went TBA, it would be no extra plus we get a $72 obc. I took the TBA and got my cove. A good PVP comes in handy.

Sounds like my situation. Booked interior on breeze for 9/27 and paid about $570 per person for two people. The price dropped about $200 per person a month or so after booking so a simple call to our pvp got things done. I was going to just ask for obc or even an upgrade to an oceanview but we were actually offered a cove balcony for no additional money. It was nice that they did that. Apparently either they have a hard time selling cove balconies or they figured putting us into an upgraded cabin allowed them to sell our old cabin to someone else. Either way I'm happy and I'm sure having a platinum and nearly diamond in the cabin didn't hurt lol. But you have to be aggressive and reasonable in your requests or else they probably wouldn't do anything for you. And yes, I have been offered upsells in the past and declined every time. I have been upgraded for free quite a few times however. Having a good pvp really helps also I think.

We are on the Liberty in a couple days. We booked an interior guarantee for DH, ds and I, since this was our second cruise this year. We had a great deal on it, since we got a casino rate. As time got closer to the cruise... I started panicking and when ds (3yo) goes for nap.. What are we gonna do? Just sit there in the dark for 2 hrs... So I started looking at balcony cabins, but wanted to wait until it dropped under 2000. Then the upgrade fairy called... It was 500 to upgrade from an interior guarantee to an ocean suite... I jumped at it since it was under the 2000. So it was a great deal to be cheaper than the balcony we were looking at.

I got a message yesterday offering a balcony upgrade for $220 from inside. (7 day NE) I don't care for balconies BUT on Splendor the OV are larger rooms and I did want that. SO I called back and asked about upgrading to OV and did that for $92 each for our 2 cabins. My point is its possible to call back and ask about another cat. then being offered.

What date is your sailing? I'm sailing the 19th and wonder if I could get a similar call and deal.
