  1. Have the best of times on your December cruise!
  2. All who are telling him to try for the exemption - Carnival changed their protocols. NO exemptions for ages 12 and older unless you have a written doctor's form showing a medical reason why you cannot be vaccinated. They are no longer allowing 5% to include 12 or older without that medical document.
  3. Since there are no longer exemptions for anyone over 12 years old unless by medical authorization, you may want to reschedule. While the January protocols have not yet been announced, I can't imagine they will be much different from the current ones - since the Covid numbers continue to climb. I hope it all works out for you!
  4. Thank you for your comments. Looking forward to October cruise on Freedom, along with the lack of crowds and long lines...
  5. One of the couples on our October 23rd Freedom roll call said they had booked and paid for the Chef's Table weeks ago. But I couldn't find it anywhere - then read John Heald's notice about which ships are currently hosting it, not Freedom. Was hoping to be able to book it, and wondering how others did a while ago.
  6. Sometimes the watermelon is decent. I don't think the other melons are ever ripe enough - cantaloupe and honeydew. I find it hard and crunchy, instead of soft and juicy. The breakfast fruits are delicious (grapefruit and orange sections, and the prunes). All the other food - delicious! Love the salad bar - everything fresh and crisp, the breads are very good - both on Lido and MDR. The cakes are good - but they aren't like Publix bakery cakes - need more sugar and real butter in the icing. Still....I eat them.😊
  7. Thankfully, there's a ship for every taste! From the smallest to mega ships. I love the Carnival Paradise, but a lot of people don't because there are no bells & whistles. It's one of my favorites. I also enjoy the Conquest class with the stadium-style Lido deck. That's a big plus when it's time for Dive In Movies, lots more seating. I do think it's hard to really know if a particular ship would suit you unless you actually sail on it?...
  8. However, Carnival does not accept religious waivers.
  9. There is no guarantee you will be one of the approved 5% either...you won't know until 2 weeks in advance. Also, didn't Bahama just say everyone must be vaccinated to enter their country, any of the islands - even the "private" ones. No exceptions. And there are a couple of other Caribbean ports that have just this week put in the same restrictions. It's a tough time to try to sail with children for sure..
  10. It's a personal decision, but I will not give up on something I enjoy so much. As soon as we can sail, I will be onboard.
  11. Incredibly sad. But then, the entire world feels incredibly sad right now. Life as we know it...not the same.
  12. Potatoes, creamed spinach, various salads, stuffed mushrooms are on the standard menu, rappini. And I think if you tell them in advance, they could make something special she would enjoy...
  13. Yes, go for it! Great ship and lovely ports. Be excited!!
  14. How did anyone NOT see that happening? The deaths onboard were tragic, there will be those who look for recompense.
  15. If it means getting back to cruising, I will gladly be thermally scanned all day!
  16. It has become our tradition for my husband and I to book the steakhouse the first night. I book the cruise, pay the deposit, then immediately book the steakhouse. We love going the first night - the free wine and we look forward to the delicious food! It's a great start to the vacation.
  17. I can't see much enjoyment on a cruise if you have to be masked. If you enjoy sunbathing, swimming, the hot tubs, of course eating and drinking, I don't see how a mask figures into the equation. And forget social distancing. How can you have a dozen people in the pool or 4 or 5 people in a hot tub and maintain social distancing? How can you have a 6pm MDR dining time with hundreds of others and maintain social distancing? Or the comedy club or the piano bar? Or the Alchemy? My personal feeling is, and I know not everyone will agree with me...and that's ok, if people are still so apprehensive in group settings that they feel a mask is necessary and they are fearful of being closer than 6 feet from others, maybe cruising is not a good choice for those folks at this current time. I won't want to wear a mask and I won't want to be fearful of others in my "space" - I will just want to enjoy my vacation. So will have to see what rules are put into place before my October cruise and decide then. I will gladly sign a waiver if required.
  18. Rain and a bit of wind....and no cruise 😟
  19. None of life will be how we knew it, at least for awhile. This too will pass, I believe.
  20. Disney is one of those scenarios where I think social distancing will be next to impossible. Any theme parks for that matter, as groups of people freely wander those venues. Some areas may be able to distance, for instance the lines to ride, but the parks in general …. I can't see it happening.
  21. It would be quite impossible to "social distance" 6 feet in all the various venues on a cruise ship... The showroom, casino, MDR, pool/lido....seriously how? Even if you only occupy 25 or 50% of the cabins. It's literally impossible. I agree with a previous poster - those people who are very concerned and insist on 6 feet, face masks, gloves to live your life, maybe cruising is not the place for you at this time. Maybe not anywhere in large numbers of people - city streets, sports venues (at some point), concerts, movies, malls. I, for one, will not live my life in fear of doing the things I enjoy. It will be very much like the flu - seasonal, ever changing, and we will have to decide at some point if we want to live in a bubble, or go back to living the best normal life we can.
  22. We have a 4th of July booked. I hope they don't cancel, but halfway expecting it. I'm not in the least concerned about going.....I would definitely board if it doesn't get canceled.
