Cruise lines that have no premium for singles

Are there any cruise lines that book singles with no premium? Or for a small premium.

Some NCL ships have solo cabins. But they are very tiny and claustrophobic, and some have found that you can get better deals, and larger cabins, if you book an inside cabin on any other line, even when paying a single supplement. But other than that, you're going to pay a single supplement.

Need to be on the lookout.

At times Carnival will have a No Single Supplement sale. Usually in low peak periods. Look on the Cruising Solo board for more info.

Some cruise search engines provide an option for a "single" search and give single cabins and other results where they have deemed that the supplement is very low.

I don't think there is any line that never has a single supplement. The vast majority of cruise lines have singles paying 200% of a per person/double occupancy fare.

As mentioned you can sometimes find a special deal with little or no single supplement but they are not real common.

Some premium lines have lower supplements on some of their cruises.

On those ships that have single rooms, you will (unless during a special sale) still pay more than a per person/double occupancy rate for the small cabin. I have seen some fares where the single cabin is the same (or even more) than a regular cabin with a single supplement so be sure to check carefully.

The only cruises that I know of that have no supplement for singles are the European river cruises.

It's unlikely you will find such an offer unless a voyage is selling very badly. And when that happens cruise lines tend to deploy the ship elsewhere the following year.

If cruise lines didn't charge a single supplement, what would keep a couple from each booking his and her own stateroom? An extra bathroom, a place to store the luggage... and cruise lines would go bankrupt.

There will occasionally be sales with no single supplement on cruises, if it's selling badly..... Whether or not it's in a cruise you want is a different question.

NCL has solo cabins, but they're often not as cheap as if there was no supplement (it's often as if a supplement is built in). Crystal has a standard 30% single supplement on window cabins (one of the lowest around) but it's a luxury line that doesn't fit everyone's budget.

only a few ships have solo cabins period, which would entail no surcharge. NCL has a few and Royal now has a very small number on Quantum and we assume the next in the Class that are coming out in subsequent years.

those single cabins tend to be broom closet size. I'd far rather pay the money and be able to turn around.

The solo cabins on NCL Getaway are plenty big for a single person. I don't know how they are priced, but I would be comfortable in one of them. They also have a lounge that can be used by all who book them. The area that has the solo cabins has limited access (key card required for entry).

NCL website shows them being 100 sq feet and an inside is 142 sq feet.

As has been mentioned, Crystal tends to have the lowest single supplement of all lines. Yes it is a luxury line, but it is all inclusive. When you start adding up the tips, alcohol, specialty dining, it often isn't that much more expensive.

Most of the European River cruises will also waive the single supplement on various cruises. If you haven't looked into River Cruising - I would definitely recommend it. Cruise Critic has an entire section devoted to river cruising.

You can also find some online travel agencies that market when there is a low single supplement. These are sometimes on companies that don't market primarily to Americans so there will be a more international mix.
