Oasis- Character Appearances

Hello!

Our family is going on Oasis in January. Our daughter is fearful of "Characters," Mascots, basically anyone is a character suit. I know that there are character appearances on Oasis at certain times and during parades, but are they fairly easy to avoid? We can avoid the parades and areas during appearances.

We have avoided these ships in the past just for this reason, but as you all know, when you exit any ship they seems to have some kind of creature there (dolphin, Sea Captain) etc. and we now know to anticipate that and so far we have been okay just quickly heading the other direction. However, just knowing how prevalent the characters are, would help. Do they randomly show up a dining venues? What kind of situation are we dealing with?

Thanks!

Yes, they are easy to avoid, but keep your eyes open. They changed this a little between my 2011 cruise and 2013 cruise. There are a few more random appearances that time. Easy enough to avoid.

Agree that they are easy to avoid as far as parades and scheduled appearances - otherwise never saw much of them. Just check the cruise compass for the schedule.

One heads up - check what day the character breakfast is in the main dining room. You have to make a reservation for it so obviously you wouldn't do that but if you decided to eat there you would definitely see them. They kind of keep the group with the reservations together and the characters visit just those tables, but they are in close proximity. Easy to eat elsewhere that day.
