taxi to Magen's bay question

we are a party of 7 wanting to head from the cruise ship to Magen's bay. How much should we plan to spend for a taxi and are there plenty available or do you need to arrange one ahead of time? Thanks

There will be taxis waiting when you get off the ship. The cost depends on weather you are birthed at Havensight or Crown Bay but I would plan on around $10/person each way.

Agree completely. Just tell the dispatcher where you are going and he will direct you to one of the open-air safari style taxis that are used. It certainly won't be cheap to get your party to Magen's Bay, plus there is an admission charge of $4.00 per person (plus the cost of any drinks and food you want while you are there). At this rate, would you consider renting a car? They drive on the opposite side of the road though, and the roads are hilly and narrow in some places, but did want to offer this up. :)

Megen's Bay charges to get in. With 7 people why not go to one of the free beaches?

This is right. Sapphire, Lindbergh Secret Harbor, and Coki are all worth the visit and IMHO just as nice or nicer. Magen's can be VERY crowded. If you are docking at Havensight, Morningstar is a short walk away.

We rented a condo a couple years ago and spent a week on St. Thomas. IMO the nicest beach (and we saw them all) was Secret Harbour. It would be my 1st choice.

Morningstar is a beach with facilities. Walking distance from port in Havensight? How long of a walk and how ( street, beach, flat, hilly?)

It is not really walkable. The road is narrow, hilly, winding, and full of taxi vans going a mile a minute.
