quillwercruisers Posted September 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2014 We are going to be in St. Maarten in January, and was wondering if anyone knew if there will be jelly fish in the water that time of year or if they even have jelly fish? We are wanting to try snorkeling, however I am allergic to bee stings and I don't want to take the chance of getting stung by a jelly fish and have the same kind of reaction. The last time I was going to try snorkeling, was a Great Stirrup Cay, in August, and there was so many jelly fish that I wouldn't go in the water at all. :o Thanks in advance!! navybankerteacher Posted September 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2014 We spend two weeks in St. Maarten every January - hitting most of the beaches: we have never seen any jellyfish.
dna529 Posted September 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2014 Anyone seen them in November? My son was stung badly a few years ago (in nc) and would freak if he saw one again. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Forums mobile app
Karysa Posted September 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Personally I have never seen jellyfish in St. Martin but I did see a warning about them posted at Baie Rouge in July of this year.

gtaylor Posted September 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Not regularly, but several times we have experienced Jelly Fish on Orient Beach during a visit during September and/or October. Perhaps the warm water had something to do with it. The Beach Boys and others tossed many of them out of the water using leaf rakes. I was brushed by at least a few, and they weren't the stinging kind, apparently, but they were definitely there. This has only occured on Orient, during those time frames. gary
