NCL lessens time in Bermuda

Just one more reason not to cruise NCL

So true. BF and I were just talking about how we probably should have gone to NJ and taken the Summit. We wanted an easy trip out of a port that is 20 minutes from our apartment, and we knew NCL would be a VERY different experience for us, but it seems every week brings some new disappointing change. I'm determined to have a good time on my upcoming cruise, but it's looking like this will be our first and last NCL cruise.

For the Dawn, a late arrival on Sunday matters little. Nothing much is open on Sundays.

It might be a problem to those who have a scheduled Sunday excursion. They might have to change those.

For the Breakaway, having to leave two hours early really stinks. Why is NCL doing this to us?

The weird part is that cruises on the Breakaway have extended their times until 6 pm for next year. I'm booked this October as well. I guess it evens out

That doesn't necessarily mean that the 6pm departure time will stay. On my last cruise, just a few weeks ago I got an e mail about 6 weeks before we sailed informing me that 3 of the port times had been changed/shortened.

my guess knowing NCL Money, Money, Money.......

Later arrival means slower speeds, less fuel, more MONEY!

Less time in port means more sales, casino and of course more MONEY!

NCL is completely out of hand in less than 6 months, new fees, schedule changes, increase in charges and the list goes on.

I'm gonna take a punt and guess fuel saving. The slower they go the less fuel used and more money saved.

I tried Breakaway for a 2 night cruise in 2014 and the service was horrible. I cruise celebrity mostly and NCL did not win me over by any means. It will be nice for my August cruise ends of August on the Summit of Breakaway leaves early!

Then why are you here in the NCL forum??

Watch out - other cruise lines may follow suit.

P.S. We went on 2 nighter on Breakaway earlier this year and had a great time. Maybe NCL isn't for you.

I just watched the PTZ TV Bermuda port Webcam, and the Dawn had docked a few minutes before 11, Bermuda time.

The change has not taken effect for the Dawn yet.

WOW!!

Last week it was 1pm. We bumped into a couple from Dawn on beach and they said they received itinerary change when they boarded Dawn and it said they'd be docking at 1pm instead of 11am.

Maybe Dawn had "tail currents" on the way here. :D (like "tail winds" when flying on plane that shorten the flying time).

I agree.

I notice that the 2 hours earlier/later is at the start or end of the single sea day of the Bermuda itineraries.

In cases of Eastern Caribbean itineraries it's before or after the 2 sea days crossing thru the Bahamas.

I went on Breakaway and did not like it. Won't be taking NCL again unless they get better. I don't care for NCL. So why am I and probably the other person on this thread? Because it was started on the Bermuda forum. The moderators moved it to the NCL board. They must have decided it was more relevent to NCL than Bermuda. When you post to a thread you stay subscribed even when the thread is moved. Since they don't tell you they moved it I did not know it had been moved until your post about it being on the NCL forum.....

This is in the Bermuda forum not NCL. I would not even go near the NCL board with a 10 ft pole.

The mods moved it. I didn't notice either until the OP mentioned it was on the NCL forum. I have not been reading the NCL forum since I took an unfortunate cruise on Breakaway so I would not have been on the thread if it had started there.

Thanks. How did you figure that out?

I noticed that myself, this morning. However, I received an email from NCL a few days ago confirming the time change for my upcoming cruise. Maybe we'll get lucky and they will change it back but I'm not holding my breath.
